The Nightly: July 5th, 2022

Hello Nightly!!!

Tonight, we take a look at the April 19th, 1999 edition of WWF Raw Is War/War Zone. This was the go home show for Backlash 1999, and the main angle for this show was The Rock preparing a "funeral" for Stone Cold, who was thrown off a bridge by Rock the week before. But Austin would show up in a monster truck and destroy The Rock’s new $40,000 Lincoln Continental. Elsewhere on the show, there was the Ministry taunting both Ken Shamrock and Vince McMahon, with Vince even engaging in an outside brawl with Mideon of all people, even trying to run him over. And there were the adventures of New Age Outlaws and Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett, and it is on this night that a certain… euphemism made famous by Jerry Lawler was coined by Road Dogg.

Overall, this was a really good go home Raw for Backlash.

On to the Nightly.
