The Nightly: May 2nd, 2022

Hello Nightly!!!

Tonight, we take a look at the October 26th, 1998 episode of WCW Monday Nitro. This was the fallout show for Halloween Havoc 1998. This was also the Nitro where they famously, or perhaps infamously, showed the entire DDP/Goldberg match from the previous night, as the PPV cut off right before their match for some audiences. Warrior also makes an appearance, and seems like that feud could have continued, but thankfully it won’t. Other than that, we also got Rick Steiner and Kenny Kaos as WCW Tag Team Champions for some reason, and Kevin Nash got thrown through a wall by Scott Hall and Giant. There was also a new WCW United States champion crowned as DDP would beat Bret Hart to become the new champion, which considering the timing of this, absolutely feels like a consolation prize if I’ve ever seen one. Can’t be the WCW World champion, but he can be the U.S. champion? By 98, I feel like both DDP and Bret were above the Midcard title.

On to the Nightly.
