The Nightly: December 6th, 2022

Hello Nightly!!!

Tonight, we take a look at the January 15th, 2001 episodes of WWF Raw Is War/War Zone and WCW Monday Nitro.

On Raw, it was the go home Raw for Royal Rumble 2001. Vince McMahon appears via satellite to make a couple of matches and to shill the XFL. Raven once again escapes the arena with the Hardcore title, and Austin recruits the APA as his partners after the Dudley Boyz get assaulted by Edge and Christian. We also got a good angle with Benoit and Jericho, as well as Chyna making her return to accept Ivory’s challenge at the Rumble. Billy Gunn was also live at WWF New York, though no word if he ate a meatball marinara sandwich while he was there.

And on Nitro, Flair’s heel stable is born during a "funeral" for Goldberg’s career, seemingly this stable is known as The Elite. No word on if had any Being The Elite webisodes on the website. Nash/Steiner for the title was the main event. There was also a good Crowbar/Chavo match, with Chavo screwing over Hugh Morrus in his quest for the United States title later on in the night. Mike Awdsome would also lose a hair vs. hair match. And finally, since it wasn’t seen at Sin, WCW felt the need to show us Sid’s leg injury from the previous night. Ouch.

On to the Nightly.
