The Nightly: October 5th, 2022

Hello Nightly!!!

Tonight we take a look at the April 10th, 2000 episodes of Raw and Nitro.

On Raw, Rock was forced to take on Bull/Boss Man in a steel cage match where he got bloodied by Triple H and the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. We also saw Eddie Guerrero retain the European title with the help of his new Mamacita, Chyna. And Big Show did his best Val Venis impersonation.

And over on Nitro, it was a big one, as it was Nitro reboot, the first show under the new regime of Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff. All existing storylines were dropped, and all titles were vacated, which while it didn’t work in the long run, it was perhaps one of the boldest moves that a wrestling company could have made. We also saw the return of Shane Douglas, as well as the debut of ECW Champion Mike Awesome, and Shawn Stasiak, who immediately botched an interference spot on Nitro. It may not have been a great show, but it certainly wasn’t boring. So much happened on this damn show, including Eric Bischoff randomly turning heel on Hogan and siding with the New Blood and Billy Kidman.

On to the Nightly.
