Take that, WrestleMania!
During New Japan’s Wrestle Grand Slam show at Met Life Dome in Saitama earlier today (Sept. 4), the company aired a promo video for their biggest event, January’s Wrestle Kingdom. For the past two years, the show’s taken place over two nights in its usual venue, the Tokyo Dome. In 2022, that tradition will continue as Wrestle Kingdom 16 takes place on January 4 & 5. But this time around there will also be a third night, January 8 in Yokohama Arena.

Since 2014, Wrestle Kingdom has run their New Year Dash!! show on the day after Wrestle Kingdom. There’s been no mention of what the the three-night, two venue Wrestle Kingdom 16 means for the 2022 edition of New Year Dash!!
The two previous two-night Wrestle Kingdoms have featured a main event storyline that spanned the two shows. It will be interesting to see how New Japan booker Gedo connects three nights of one event.
Looking forward to lots of Wrestle Kingdom in 2022?
