AEW Rewind: CM Punk’s dream matches, Christopher Daniels’ Fallen Angel promo, more!

Don’t have time to follow all of AEW’s online content? Don’t worry. We got you covered with the AEW Rewind, which will rewind through social media bits and YouTube videos from the past week to prepare you for Wednesday night Dynamite.

“AEW Road to Rochester,” honored Hispanic Heritage Month with Pentagon, Andrade, Santana, Tay Conti, Vickie Guerrero, Sammy Guevara, Eddie Kingston, Thunder Rosa, Fenix, and Ortiz. It also hyped Adam Cole versus Jungle Boy and Miro defending the TNT Championship against Sammy Guevara. Nod to the top segment goes to Sammy explaining what winning a title would mean and Miro’s sassy soundbites.

CM Punk offered a Q&A over Twitter, and one of the answers involved his personal dream matches. Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega are obvious super opponents. The third option perked my ears.

Punk desires teaming with Danielson against Fenix and Pentagon in a lucha de apuestas hair versus masks. The topper is taking it outside the USA and into Mexico City. That would be so awesome as an international spectacle. The request didn’t fall on deaf ears. AAA promoter Dorian Roldan took notice and would love to make it happen.

There were not many story beats on Elevation and Dark as it pertains to Dynamite this week. Elevation highlights were Paul Wight in an old-fashioned 1-on-3 handicap to showcase his attraction as a giant, Daniel Bryan declaring his desire to work through the rankings to win the AEW World Championship, and Tony Khan joined by Lil Uzi Vert for a rap battle with Max Caster. Dark announced the signing of Kiera Hogan and had appearances from NXT alumni Santana Garrett and Arturo Ruas. Garrett is already plunging into a mini feud with Diamante.

In the AEW locker room FIFA video game tournament, Miro and John Silver advanced to the final showdown to air live on the AEW Games Twitch channel for October 6.

Chris Jericho’s cruise has added Wardlow, Sonny Kiss, Rebel, Luther, Serpentico, Ashley D’Amboise, Dasha Gonzalez, Aubrey Edwards, Peter Avalon, and Cezar Bononi to the list. A special match was also announced. Jericho will team up with Orange Cassidy against Ricky Starks and Will Hobbs.

Being the Elite

“Grand Slam” - Being The Elite, Ep. 275 (here) featured:

  • Christopher Daniels is back! CD opened BTE with a must-see promo for fans of the Fallen Angel. He gambled everything and lost it all. Now, he is all alone. Daniels has nothing to fight for except the right to keep fighting. What he thought was the end might actually be a new beginning.
  • 2point0 teased about Renee Paquette wanting a shot at the BTE Championship. To instill order, they instituted a ranking system.
  • The Young Bucks went sneaker shopping again. They weren’t fazed by the 18,000 crowd size at Arthur Ashe Stadium, because they’ve wrestled seven times in the Tokyo Dome.
  • Footage of underground backstage entrances at the venue.
  • Ryan Nemeth’s cream segment was about juicy gossip. It was all fake stuff, such as -1 being wounded in Vietnam.
  • Karl Anderson was rubbing one out, so the Bucks and Luke Gallows left without him for their trios match with Adam Cole on Rampage. Highlights of the contest followed.
  • Alex Reynolds stopped John Silver from drinking urine. They searched for a new friends and found beefy Wardlow. He politely declined their erotic advances.

We’ll close with a new shirt for Darby Allin.
