Hello Nightly!!!

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Mankind:

This match is actually really great, it’s just one big brawl, and it’s a lot of fun.

Faarooq vs. Savio Vega:

This was the beginning of the Nation Of Domination.

Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon vs. Leif Cassidy and Bob Holly:

Okay match.

La Parka vs. Juventud Guerrera:

This was meant to be the second match, but an Outsiders attack at the very beginning of the show made this the show opener. This was La Parka’s Nitro debut, it was nice to see him on the show.

Ultimo Dragon vs. Dean Malenko for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship:

Decent match, but the finish with the rope disqualification was lame. Did Bill Watts book this match?

Amazing French Canadians vs. American Males:

Bad match.

Lex Luger vs. Hugh Morrus:

Another bad match. At least the post match angle with Sting is cool.

Jeff Jarrett vs. Bobby Eaton:

Not a great match, this Jarrett run just feels so forced, it’s arguably just as bad as his second WCW run in 2000.

Big Bubba vs. Jim Powers:

Alright match.

Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero:

Good match as always.

The show ends with Eric Bischoff announcing an update on Piper/Hogan, but Piper reveals that despite Bischoff’s claims, he never once saw Bischoff arrive at his ranch. He could tell whether the road was crooked or straight! He wasn’t even sure if he flew first class or coach. And after an NWO beat down, it was revealed that Bischoff is a member of the NWO.

Overall, both shows were pretty good, or they at least had their strong moments. I would say that Raw had the better matches, while Nitro had the better and bigger moments, especially the closing angle with Bischoff now officially in the NWO. Nitro would win with a 3.2 against Raw’s 2.4.

On to the Nightly.
