MLW Roundup: Fusion Alpha debut date, Opera Cup competitors revealed, more!

It’s time to get back in the MLW groove, because the debut of Fusion Alpha has a date.

MLW action is returning to our lives on Wednesday, September 22 with the premiere of Fusion Alpha.

I’m still not sure what exactly to expect other than matches that took place during the Battle Riot taping. Thankfully the teaser provides some hints.

Invasions! Alliances! Raids! Beware!!

Major League Wrestling is under attack. Who will rise up?

An Underground Revolution begins. A deal with the devil?!

Who do you trust?

A league is shattered?

The press release provides a little more detail.

This fall Major League Wrestling will present a new series, MLW Fusion: ALPHA, premiering Wednesday September 22 on MLW’s YouTube Channel and Saturday and Mondays on beIN SPORTS.

Featuring big matches, inter-promotional clashes, shocking alliances and a new matchmaker in the form of Cesar Duran, Fusion: ALPHA finds Major League Wrestling in the midst of a wrestling war with raids, jumps and the fear of invasion.

Will a league be shattered? Who can be trusted?

Tune in each and very Wednesday at 7pm ET for MLW Fusion: ALPHA.

Sounds delightful. Anything involving Cesar Duran (alias Dario Cueto) has my attention. Let’s rock and roll on this sucker.

MLW’s next live event is Fightland on October 2 from Philadelphia. The headliner is MLW World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu versus MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone in title versus title. The undercard is being filled out with two rounds of the Opera Cup tournament. Five of the eight competitors have been revealed.

The Opera Cup list includes:

  • Tom Lawlor
  • Davey Richards
  • TJP
  • Calvin Tankman
  • Matt Cross

That’s a solid lineup that should produce entertaining matches, but it lacks a little star power at the moment. Lawlor is carrying the load as reigning Opera Cup winner. Richards has name value, but he doesn’t have any momentum built yet within MLW for me to believe he will emerge victorious in the end. Tankman is a stud on the rise. TJP and Cross (aka Son of Havoc) are quality hands that could have a Cinderella Man run to the final.

In addition to Tajiri and Nicole Savoy coming to Fightland, Los Parks will be there as well. Defending the tag titles would be a likely scenario for LA Park and his sons.

Kimchee was a surprise appearance in the Battle Riot. He plans on returning to MLW after completing an expedition to find, “a new stable of behemoths.” I like the sound of that. I hope Kimchee brings in all the hosses he can muster.

MLW locked down Rivera (aka Danny Limelight) and Slice Boogie to contracts as part of Konnan’s new 5150 LAX stable. Both men are expected to wrestle at Fightland.

In outside news, Richard Holliday has released his own special coffee blend.

Rarefied Air coffee is available for purchase (here) at $20 for a 12 ounce bag. The beans come from Guatemala. Adjectives listed to describe the flavor are brownie, citrus, balanced.

Holliday is a man of many talents. Dynastic professional wrestler, coffee magnate, and now we learn that he has the singing voice of a swinging crooner.

Alicia Atout doubted Holliday’s prowess to out-sing her, so she proposed a duet.

If that does indeed go down, let’s hope it makes air on Fusion.

Are you going to tune in to Fusion Alpha? What’s your opinion on the Opera Cup field so far? Who else would you like to see enter? Will you be drinking Rarefied Air in your coffee mug?
