MLW Roundup: Tom Lawlor accepts War Chamber challenge, Arez & Smokes signed, more!

Welcome to the MLW Roundup.

We’ll start with a good news, bad news situation. Good news first. Tom Lawlor has accepted the Von Erichs’ challenge for a War Chamber match. He is ready to get filthy inside a steel cage.

The War Chamber was set to headline MLW’s show in Dallas, TX on September 11. Therein lies the bad news. MLW has been monitoring the increase in COVID cases for that area, and they decided to reschedule the event. It will be pushed back to March 31, 2022. MLW’s next show is listed for October 2 in Philadelphia, PA.

The Von Erichs were riding high with the War Chamber on the horizon and also looking to regain the MLW tag titles by instituting their rematch clause. Ross and Marshall are going to need a heaping helping of patience. In addition to the War Chamber being postponed, it seems that Cesar Duran (alias Dario Cueto) is not too keen on having the Von Erichs challenge LA Park & Hijo de LA Park. Duran has the power after being named matchmaker by MLW. The issues appears to be slow processing of the paperwork. How convenient. That is two major opportunities for the Von Erichs that have been put on the backburner.

On the bright side, the Von Erichs may not have to deal with referee Tim Donaghy anymore. The former NBA official turned wrestling referee is under investigation by state athletic commissions for potential bribes from Lawlor prior to wrestling Marshall.

Numerous new faces appeared for MLW at Battle Riot III. A positive impression led to MLW inking multi-year deals with Arez and Dr. Julius Smokes. Arez debuted with luchador strange style to pop the crowd. Smokes is aligned with Konnan’s newest LAX lineup including Slice Boogie and Rivera (aka Danny Limelight).

MLW is looking to have the Opera Cup tournament return this year. Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles are the front-runners to land the event. Past winners include Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Tom Lawlor.

We can’t part ways without checking in on the Dynasty, bro. Richard Holliday and Alexander Hammerstone were getting pumped in the gym.

Holliday was also in the lab creating special blends of coffee.

Based on Hammer’s jovial expression lifting weights, I suspect Holliday brewed a fresh batch of Exotic Latin Muscle Coffee for Hammerman’s consumption.
