The NWA all-women Empowerrr PPV was already stocked with talent, and it just got deeper with new additions this week. Kiera Hogan, an AEW women’s tag team, Terry Gordy’s daughter, and several other notable names have joined the lineup.

Kiera Hogan had a busy week. She wrestled three times for AEW. Unfortunately, Hogan racked up three loses to Hikaru Shida on Elevation, Kris Statlander on Dark, and Jade Cargill on Rampage. The Hottest Flame still burns bright, and she has a chance to turn her fortunes around by working with the NWA at Empowerrr. The official announcement dropped that Hogan will compete in the NWA Women’s Invitational Cup. A title shot is on the line for the winner on the very next night at NWA 73.

NWA completed the invitational field with Thunder Kitty. She is apparently 100 years of age as part of her gimmick. The Boston Crab is her submission of choice. Thunder Kitty was ranked #48 in the 2013 PWI Top 50 Females.

NWA is making use of their Forbidden Door relationship with AEW. The duo of Red Velvet and KiLynn King have a chance to win gold in the NWA Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament.

Empowerrr continues adding a special touch of legacy to the mix. Santino Marella’s daughter, Bianca Carelli, won’t be the only one on the show with a famous father. NWA announced Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy’s daughter will be wrestling. Gordy is known as a member of the legendary Fabulous Freebirds, so it is only fitting that Miranda Gordy formed her own crew called The Freebabes. Miranda will have Jazzy Yang and Hollyhood Haley J by her side to compete in the tag team tournament.

The list doesn’t stop there. NWA is rounding out the card with Diamante, Kylie Rae, and Chik Tormenta in action. Opponents have not yet been revealed. Diamante has been mixing it up in AEW. Kylie took a hiatus from wrestling then returned to compete for the NWA earlier this year. Tormenta adds international flavor from AAA.

In a neat piece of history for Empowerrr, Billy Corgan acquired Mildred Burke’s championship. Burke is recognized as the inaugural NWA World Women’s Champion. She carried that title for close to twenty years.

The NWA Empowerrr card for August 28 currently stands at:

  • NWA World Women’s Championship: Kamille (c) vs. Leyla Hirsch
  • Impact Knockouts Championship: Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. Melina
  • NWA Women’s Invitational Cup: Chelsea Green, Tootie Lynn, Jamie Senegal, Lady Frost, Debbie Malenko, Bianca Carelli, Jennacide, Masha Slamovich, Thunder Kitty, Kiera Hogan
  • NWA Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament: Allysin Kay & Marti Belle, Sahara 7 & Renee Michelle, Red Velvet & KiLynn King, The Freebabes (Jazzy Yang, Hollyhood Haley J, & Miranda Gordy)
  • Also in action: Diamante, Kylie Rae, Chik Tormenta
  • Referees: Beckie Phillips, Yali Sapphire, and Claudia Reiff

NWA is rolling with a doubleheader next weekend. Empowerrr and NWA 73 will be available for viewing through Fite TV. Options include Empowerrr on Saturday, August 28 and NWA 73 on Sunday, August 29 as standalone events or a two-pack bundle for both PPVs to save some money.
