Dario Cueto brings former Lucha Underground wrestler to MLW as latest acquisition

Round 7 of MLW’s open draft gimmick brought in a familiar face from Lucha Underground. I probably shouldn’t say familiar face since he was wearing a mask in the Temple. Nonetheless, Cesar Duran (aka Dario Cueto) has brought Matt Cross (aka Son of Havoc) into the mix for his Azteca Underground stable in MLW.

Cross will cruise the open road to MLW’s new season on July 10 in Philadelphia, PA.

Cross is a quality pick-up. He can wow the crowd with acrobatics and put on a good match with anybody. Alicia Atout also confirmed the return of Jordan Oliver and Kit Osbourne (aka Rip Von Erich, son of Lance Von Erich). That was the final round of the draft.

Since Battle Riot is the premier bout for the July 10 show, it has been commemorated with badass artwork reminiscent of classic Royal Rumble posters.

Davey Richards, Daivari, Osbourne, Ross Von Erich, Marshall Von Erich, Aramis, King Mo, Bu Ku Dao, and Alex Kane were added this week to the 40-man rumble. They will join Alexander Hammerstone, King Muertes, Richard Holliday, Zenshi, Lee Moriarty, TJP, Gringo Loco, Kevin Ku, Arez, Mads Krugger, Gino Medina, Myron Reed, Savio Vega, and Calvin Tankman. That is 23 of 40 spots filled. The winner will earn a title shot for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.

Contra Unit’s Jacob Fatu, Josef Samael, Daivari, and Ikuro Kwon are scheduled for July 10 as well. Others confirmed for the show include Dominic Garrini, ring announcer Stephen DeAngelis, Tom Lawlor, and Cesar Duran (alias Dario Cueto).

If you are wondering when the Battle Riot will air, there has been no official announcement yet for MLW’s debut of new material in their deal with Vice TV. In the meantime, you can catch MLW’s renegades in action with older episodes airing Saturdays at noon ET on Vice. MLW also has a variety of other outlets available for your viewing pleasure.

On to other goodies. Celebrate Duran’s latest acquisition with violence!

King Muertes also has new merch.

Hammerstone has a sweet jacket from Nerds Clothing Co.

That has to be Andre the Giant sized to be loose over Hammer’s enormous muscles.

In an update on the potential romance between Richard Holliday and Alicia Atout, they finally found common ground.

Could their bond of preferring dogs to cats ignite the spark of love? Not so fast.

Flirting or not, we’ll have to keep an eye on this two to see if anything develops during MLW’s return on July 10.

Are you excited to see Cross in MLW? Which matchups are you hoping to see for Cross?
