Deonna Purrazzo’s AAA in-ring debut booked for Verano de Escándalo

New, 8 comments

Deonna Purrazzo’s summer is heating up. In addition to her duties holding the Impact Knockouts Championship, she is also venturing down south to Mexico for new challenges. Purrazzo has a date with Faby Apache in title versus title at AAA’s Triplemania XXIX on August 14. Not content to rest on her laurels, Purrazzo now has an intriguing opponent for AAA’s Verano de Escándalo on July 3.

Purrazzo’s involvement with AAA began in May when she made an appearance at Rey de Reyes. Impact’s champ challenged Faby Apache, the newly crowned Reina de Reinas Champion, to a future bout for all the gold at Triplemania.

Purrazzo concluded with a handshake offer. Once Faby accepted the gesture of sportsmanship, Purrazzo swiftly took her down for an armbar. She followed with two powerbombs. Purrazzo held both championships high in the air as a sign of disrespect.

Earlier this week, Lady Shani had a message for Purrazzo. She was offended by Purrazzo talking so much trash at Rey de Reyes. No matter the outcome at Triplemania, Shani wants a match with Purrazzo to show her Mexican lucha libre.

Purrazzo’s response was to double down on the trash-talk. She claimed that the truth is lucha libre is inferior to American wrestling. Purrazzo sees no reason to wait to prove this. The Knockouts Champion accepted the match for Verano de Escándalo on July 3.

Purrazzo has several big matches booked in a short period of time. It starts this weekend against Rosemary (or possibly a three-way with Havok) in a Knockouts title defense at Impact’s Against All Odds on June 12. Purrazzo versus Shani is scheduled for Verano de Escándalo on July 3. I think it is safe to assume Purrazzo will be victorious in both those contests.

Her next marquee show would be Slammiversary on July 17. My guess is Taylor Wilde, Rachael Ellering, or a newly signed wrestler from WWE would fill the role as Purrazzo’s opponent. As long as the Virtuosa keeps the Knockouts belt around her waist, her summer will conclude with Faby Apache at Triplemania on August 14.

The Impact versus AAA dream match at Triplemania is not 100% etched in stone yet. Since it is title versus title, any new champions will get the call as the replacement.
