NWA When Our Shadows Fall results: Nick Aldis retains, Serena Deeb loses women’s title, more!

NWA’s When Our Shadows Fall PPV featured three notable matches to keep an eye on. Nick Aldis defended the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Trevor Murdoch, Serena Deeb defended the NWA Women’s World Championship against Kamille, and Kylie Rae returned to the ring in tag team action involving Taryn Terrell, Melina, and Thunder Rosa.

The event had its own custom guitar-shredding theme song courtesy of the Smashing Pumpkins’ Jeff Schroeder. The intro video includes footage of the rare V-shaped double neck guitar.

The main event of the evening saw Nick Aldis put the Ten Pounds of Gold on the line against blue-collar hero Trevor Murdoch. The challenger had momentum after a flying bulldog. Aldis’ Strictly Business associate Thom Latimer made his way ringside with a chair. The referee spied Latimer being nosy, so he took care of the situation. Aldis decided to whack the ref from behind with a different chair. The champ turned his attention to pounding Murdoch with the steel seat. Aldis climbed the corner to connect on a flying elbow drop. He went for a second flying attack, but Murdoch evaded impact. Murdoch then hit Aldis with the chair. The challenger secured an Indian Deathlock. The referee called for the bell.

New world champion? Not so fast.

The referee disqualified Murdoch for use of the chair. Commentary theorized that the ref witnessed Murdoch’s dirty deeds but not those of Aldis. The bottom line is that Aldis remains holder of the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.

The NWA has a new women’s champion. Kamille dethroned Serena Deeb.

The closing sequence occurred after Kamille damaged Deeb’s knee on a single-leg crab. Kamille picked up Deeb’s injured body. The champ surprised Kamille with a fancy roll-up. Kamille broke free then charged for a steamroller slam. The challenger had the champ down. As soon as Deeb got to her feet, Kamille pounced for a spear to win.

Kylie Rae made her return to wrestling after retiring due to mental health issues. She competed in tag team action alongside Taryn Terrell against Thunder Rosa and Melina. During the contest, Thunder Rosa’s aggression got the better of her. She picked up Terrell to inexplicably carry her backstage. That left Kylie and Melina to duke it out. Kylie shockingly grabbed the tights to secure a roll-up win. Rae has always been a smiling do-gooder, so this act of breaking the rules was out of the norm for her.

It was also announced that Kylie Rae has signed a contract with the NWA.

In other action:

  • NWA World Tag Championship: Aron Stevens & Kratos retained against Crimson & Jax Dane and Thom Latimer & Chris Adonis in a three-way. Adonis almost submitted Stevens with the Master Lock, but Crimson broke the hold. In the end, Kratos resorted to nefarious methods to win. He tried using the title belt as a foreign object, however, the referee stopped that idea. Instead, Kratos used a low-blow on Crimson behind the ref’s back. Stevens picked up the pin, possibly unaware of Kratos’ actions.
  • JTG defeated Fred Rosser. A roll-up pin did the trick.
  • Tyrus defeated Pope. This was a non-title match with Pope’s NWA World Television Championship. Austin Idol was ringside. Tyrus connected with a loaded fist punch for victory.
  • Mecha Wolf & Bestia 666 defeated Parrow & Odinson, Marche Rockett & Slice Boogie, and Sal Rinauro & Rudo in a four-way. The end turned chaotic with a series of dives to the outside. The luchadores were able to isolate Rockett. Bestia hit a musclebuster then Mecha followed with a 450 splash to win. Good call for Mecha Wolf & Bestia 666 to prevail. They are a talented duo and add spice to the tag team division.

Also of note, Mickie James was in the house to watch her husband’s back. Mickie was backstage and did not appear during the broadcast.

The replay for When Our Shadows Fall is available through Fite TV.

If you watched When Our Shadows Fall, was it a satisfying experience? Did the main event chicanery get you emotionally invested? Do you believe Kamille can carry the NWA’s women’s division as champ?
