Ring of Honor’s next PPV is Best in the World on Sunday, July 11. The show now has its main event booked after the Survival of the Fittest tournament determined a #1 contender. Rush will defend the ROH World Championship against Bandido.

The tournament began with six singles bouts leading to a six-way elimination finale, which aired on ROH Wrestling. The first round results were:

  • Demonic Flamita defeated Rey Horus
  • Brian Johnson defeated Sledge
  • Eli Isom defeated Dak Draper
  • Chris Dickinson defeated O’Shay Edwards
  • Bandido defeated Bateman
  • Rhett Titus defeated Danhausen

In the Survival of the Fittest finale, Flamita was the first wrestler eliminated. Bandido scored a roll-up on his former trios partner. Flamita went demonic to take out his frustrations on Bandido with a powerbomb through a table and chair violence. Brian Johnson was the second elimination, courtesy of Rhett Titus with a flying knee drop. Titus was taken out third on a knee bar submission from Chris Dickinson. Dickinson was the fifth elimination after a 21-plex from Bandido. The final two were Bandido and Eli Isom. Bandido persevered through previous damage to submit Isom with a headscissors armbar.

Bandido earned the main event slot against Rush for the ROH World Championship at Best in the World on Sunday, July 11. The two luchadores previously competed against each other in singles action at ROH’s 17th Anniversary Show on March 15, 2019. Rush won with his Bull’s Horns dropkick finisher.

The Survival of the Fittest finale is available for free viewing on ROH Wrestling episode 510 through ROH and Fite TV.

The card so far for Best in the World includes:

  • ROH World Championship: Rush (c) vs. Bandido
  • ROH Pure Championship: Jonathan Gresham (c) vs. Mike Bennett
  • ROH World Television Championship: Tony Deppen (c) vs. Dragon Lee
  • E3 vs. Flip Gordon
  • Brody King vs. Jay Lethal
  • Last Man Standing: Josh Woods vs. Silas Young

The Pure title bout may have a change. Jonathan Gresham is scheduled to defend against Fred Yehi on the next episode of ROH Wrestling. The winner will advance to wrestle Mike Bennett. Also on the next TV episode from ROH will be Jay Briscoe versus Mark Briscoe on the Fight on the Farm. That should be a hoot.
