AEW Rewind: Inner Circle celebration, Young Bucks bribe referee, more!

Don’t have time to follow all of AEW’s online content? Don’t worry. We got you covered with the AEW Rewind, which will rewind through social media bits and YouTube videos from the past week to prepare you for Dynamite.

Reminder, Dynamite airs Friday night this week at 10 pm ET on TNT.

After the Inner Circle prevailed over the Pinnacle in Stadium Stampede at Double or Nothing, Chris Jericho closed with crowd work. Sammy Guevara received a raucous ovation. The fans showed why they were missed.

Hikaru Shida’s lengthy title reign came to an end at the hands of Dr. Britt Baker DMD. The former champ released a statement regarding the loss.

For Baker, it was just another day at the office. She brought her new gold to the dental clinic.

Frankie Kazarian explained his motive for hunting the Elite. Vengeance is claimed with action. Kaz is just getting started.

Max Caster released a rap video prior to the Casino Battle Royale to insult the other competitors.

The feud between Team Taz and Hangman Page is far from over.

MJF was on the Busted Open podcast to tell a crazy story about a fan impersonating a pilot with the assumed intent to kidnap MJF. AEW security sniffed out the plot.

Varsity Blonds were the latest guests on Outside the Ring with Lexy Nair (here). When asked about their biggest strength, they answered in unison, “My hair.” Griff Garrison claimed that he can out-dance anyone on the AEW roster. That is something we need to see.

Being the Elite

“Double or Nothing 2021” - Being The Elite, Ep. 258 (here) featured:

  • The Young Bucks went shopping at a Nike outlet. Matt Jackson bought $1,300 sneakers.
  • Nick Jackson hurdled over his kid to make a trick shot.
  • Kenny Omega took ten minutes to make a swish before heading out to the fan fest. Footage showed new toys and memorabilia.
  • Brandon Cutler defended the BTE Championship against Ryan Nemeth. The challenge was desktop basketball. Nemeth scored 6 out of 10. Cutler used his blue balls to score 7 out of 10.
  • Nick celebrated the tag title win over Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston. The Bucks also recovered their stolen sneakers.
  • Nick hit another trick shot. He threw a football into the hoop from full-court.
  • The Bucks left a fat wad of cash for Rick Knox. The implication was that they bought off the referee to allow their constant double-teaming.
  • Matt Hardy was furious about Christian Cage violating their pact to eliminate Jungle Boy in the Casino Battle Royale. Christian has always been a coward. If not for the Hardy Boys getting extreme, Christian and his crappy partner (Edge) would never have gotten over. Christian will pay for his betrayal. Private Party is ready to pound ass.

The key takeaway scene was the Young Bucks bribing a referee. This skit was most likely in response to Jim Ross questioning why they were allowed to usurp the official’s authority so often on extended double-team attacks. I appreciate that little cover-up from the Bucks. I would much rather have crooked refs than incompetent officiating.

Matt Hardy’s promo was pretty funny. That is worth watching for a chuckle, but be warned about naughty language.

The real show-stealer was Nick Jackson’s mini roller coaster toy for his son during the first trick shot. That looks awesome to have as a child. I must now investigate if adult-sized ones are sold.

We’ll close with news on the toy front. AEW is bringing back Wrestling Buddies. Luchasaurus, Cody Rhodes, Darby Allin, and Kenny Omega are the first set.

The next round of action figures was also announced. Miro, Dr. Britt Baker DMD, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, Dustin Rhodes, and Darby Allin are the picks.
