NWA has a PPV fast approaching on June 6. Nick Aldis was in need of a challenger for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at When Our Shadows Fall, so NWA put together a 14-man battle royal to determine the #1 contender. A blue-collar workhorse rose to the occasion to win the opportunity. Aldis will be squaring off against Trevor Murdoch.

On NWA Powerrr, Murdoch outlasted the 13 other men gunning for the top spot. Notable names in the mix included Fred Rosser (aka Darren Young), Crimson, Matt Cross (aka Son of Havoc), Parrow, Tyrus (aka Brodus Clay), Chris Adonis (aka Chris Masters), and Thom Latimer.

The nitty-gritty came down to Murdoch, Adonis, Latimer, and Tyrus. Pope interfered to eliminate Tyrus. Aldis’ mates teamed up to attack Murdoch, but the victor overcame the odds to win. Aldis ran in trying to ambush Murdoch, however, the new #1 contender had the last laugh by roughing up Aldis with a flying bulldog.

Murdoch cut a babyface promo after the confrontation.

The Worlds title match is now official for When Our Shadows Fall. Aldis will wrestle Murdoch for the Ten Pounds of Gold.

Murdoch is best known for his run in WWE from 2005 to 2008 as a three-time tag champ with Lance Cade. Murdoch joined the NWA in 2019 and won the NWA National Heavyweight Championship.

In other NWA championship news, Adonis vacated the National Championship to participate in the battle royal. Pope has defended the World Television Championship four times. If Pope survives three more defenses, then the Lucky Seven Rule takes affect allowing Pope to challenge for the Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Aron Stevens and JR Kratos remain World Tag Team Champions, despite Stevens veering toward good and Kratos preferring to act bad.

The NWA World Women’s Championship is in possession of Serena Deeb. She will put that title on the line against Riho for AEW’s Double or Nothing pre-show on May 30. The next contender after Riho is a little cloudy at the moment. Thunder Rosa battled Kamille on Powerrr with #1 contender status on the line. The contest concluded as a 20-minute draw.

There is no official statement yet from the NWA about how that result will affect When Our Shadows Fall.

NWA’s When Our Shadows Fall PPV is available through Fite TV (here) airing at 4:00 pm ET on Sunday, June 6. NWA Powerrr airs Tuesdays. The weekly program is available for viewing via monthly subscription through Fite TV.
