Welcome back to the Sermon on the Mat, your weekly one-stop shop for news from the wider world of wrestling beyond the big cable TV monoliths that get all the coverage.
Coming soon...

—Hello Cleveland (Apr. 29, 7:30PM Eastern)—

AIW are back, baby! Go For Broke has been running for a few weeks but these two are first run full-featured Absolute Intense shows in front of a limited audience! And best of all, my hype job is easy, because the cards are secret!
Check ‘em out live on IWTV, friends.

Ducks fly together, baby, and when Lance Lude was stricken with colon cancer and had to have surgery last month, his teammates got together and put this card together, and what a card it is! The other ducks go up against two hot young up-and-comers, you got a killer four-way, a talent-packed scramble, and more!
Check it out when it eventually hits IWTV, and maybe kick a buck or two into Lance’s GoFundMe if you can, friends.
ECWA 25th Annual Super 8 Tournament (May 1, 7PM Eastern)
- ???
ECWA’s legendary Super 8 is back and while we don’t have card info, they’re again spotlighting a field of eight of the best wrestlers available to them. This year’s lineup is A Very Good Professional Wrestler, Killian McMurphy, Timmy Lou Retton, Bam Sullivan, Matt Makowski, Alex Anthony, “Colossal” Mike Law, and... RICKY MORTON?! Yeah boy, 64-year-old Ricky Morton is gonna test his mettle against the young hotness!
Check it out live on IWTV, folks.
GCW Ashes to Ashes (May 1, 8PM Eastern)
- Brayden Lee vs. Cole Radrick
- BUSSY (Allie Katch & EFFY) vs. Ironbeast (KTB & Shane Mercer)
- Mance Warner vs. Nolan Edward
- Atticus Cogar vs. Tony Deppen
- Joey Janela vs. Lee Moriarty
- G-Raver vs. Jimmy Lloyd
- Jordan Oliver vs. Nick Gage (c) (GCW World Championship)
GCW are back and they’ve got their usual smorgasbord of action up for you. Janela/Moriarty is the obvious out-of-the-park standout here, but Ironbeast vs. BUSSY should be great fun, as well as Raver vs. Lloyd and the Ultraviolent King defending his crown. Plus former champ Rickey Shane Page will be in the building with something to say!
Check it out live on FITE, folks.
Free matches here!
AR Fox vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey
Starting off hot with a match that could actually happen again now fairly soon from Beyond, Fox vs. Speedball, it’s excellent, watch it!
“All Ego” Ethan Page vs. Matt Cross
And now F1RST Wrestling brings this match between indie mainstays past and present. All Ego vs. M-Dogg, enjoy!
Ava Everett vs. Love, Doug
Last but not least, we’ve got this unique little match from Limitless Wrestling that I selected primarily because the thumbnail was so wild. It’s a Bed of Love Tables Match, enjoy!
As always...
Remember folks, no matter what type of wrestling you like, no matter how down you feel about the state of WWE, AEW, Impact, ROH, or any other “big-time” pro wrestling, there’s something out there for you. There’s a pro wrestling product that can hit you in the right spot and make you love wrestling like you thought you’d never be able to love it again. It’s there, I promise. You just gotta reach out and find it, and that, my friends, is what the Sermon on the Mat is all about.
