We’ve been almost as excited for John Cena’s debut in the Fast & Furious franchise as we are for his return to WWE (but slightly less than we are for all things Peacemaker). That’s because F9 will be the highest profile example we’ve had of what it looks like when Cena breaks bad.
While everyone in the Fast universe seems to eventually join “the family”, John’s gonna follow Dwayne Johnson’s lead and start off as a foil to Dom Toretto. The twist for Cena... he's playing Jakob Toretto, the actual brother of series lead Vin Diesel’s character. INTRIGUE!
As you can see in the new trailer embedded above, which just dropped today, Jakob feels Dom abandoned him and is out for revenge. He’s probably being manipulated by Charlize Theron’s Cipher, who returns from 2017’s The Fate of the Furious where she coerced Dom into working against his team by... you know what, it’s a whole thing.

The film’s release has dealt with several pandemic-caused delays, but Fast & Furious 9 is currently scheduled to debut on various dates around the globe this summer.
