MLW Roundup: Jacob Fatu title fight tonight, Los Parks defend tag team gold, more!

Let’s catch up on the latest news in MLW.

Two title fights on Fusion

After a one-week break, MLW returns tonight with a fresh episode of Fusion. They are coming hard with two title fights as Jacob Fatu defends the MLW World Heavyweight Championship against Jordan Oliver and LA Park & Hijo de LA Park defend the MLW World Tag Team Championship against Simon Gotch & Daivari of the Contra Unit.

Jordan Oliver is finally getting his wish. Ever since Contra permanently injured Kotto Brazil, Injustice has been clamoring for payback. Oliver put on weight during the pandemic break and has his eye on taking heavyweight gold away from Contra’s unstoppable Jacob Fatu. Good luck with that.

Oliver is very likely to get his ass kicked. It is kind of a no-lose situation for viewers. We will either be treated to carnage and destruction of immense proportions or Oliver will surprise with a classic underdog effort for a rousing match. Both options should result in drama and action.

Contra has their sights set on winning all the belts in MLW. They’ll get their chance for tag team glory as Simon Gotch & Daivari attempt to outfox LA Park & Hijo de LA Park. Don’t expect it to be an even two-on-two affair. Los Parks regularly use the switcheroo tactic with LA Park Jr. replacing his brother when needed, even though they wear different outfits and have different body builds. Los Parks also have Salina de la Renta by their side. Expect chaos and unruliness in this contest.

If two title fights aren’t enough to satiate your appetite, MLW booked a third match that has potential to steal the show. Calvin Tankman is taking a step up in competition to wrestle Laredo Kid. This will be a big test to see how Tankman stacks up against highly skilled athletes. Tankman’s power game is supreme, but Laredo has the heart of a champion. It is going to take more than a few heavy slams to keep the luchador on his back for three.

With all the hefty fellows on tonight’s card, MLW still found room to add one more. Parrow will make his return to the organization. The big man stands at 6’4” and 300 pounds. He is billed as the “One Man Demolition Machine.” With so many bruisers on MLW’s roster, that is a bold claim to add to one’s name. He better back that up.

Also advertised are promos from Mil Muertes about burying Savio Vega, Alexander Hammerstone and Richard Holliday discussing the next order of business for the Dynasty, Bu Ku Dao sharing his feelings about being kicked out of TJP’s dojo, and fallout from Tom Lawlor and Filthy Island.

MLW Fusion posts on YouTube Wednesday nights at 7 pm ET, streams on Fubo Sports Network Friday nights at 7 pm ET and 10 pm ET, and airs on beIN SPORTS Saturday nights at 10 pm ET. You can also check out MLW on DAZN, Roku, and Pluto. In addition, MLW is broadcast in over 20 countries.

Quick hits

Richard Holliday and Savio Vega were guests on Busted Open on separate occasions. The topic was their Caribbean strap match and the questionable finish involving referee Tim Donaghy. Holliday is downplaying a rematch.

Vega wants another shot at that chump. Holliday should have the balls to defend the Caribbean Championship in Puerto Rico.

Salina de la Renta forced Alicia Atout to wear costumes sent in by fans. Alicia’s outfits were an orange jumpsuit, the pink dork champion, and as Salina. Watch all the sassiness here.

NERDS Clothing put out images of new merch for their deal with MLW. LA Park and the Contra Unit are featured. Appropriate choices given tonight’s episode of Fusion.

MLW CEO Court Bauer spoke with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes about current negotiations for broadcast rights. They have received several offers due to strong fan growth, but no new deals are scheduled to be announced just yet. The future of MLW is on the rise.

Who are you rooting for in tonight’s big matches? Are you expecting any title changes?
