The Five Most Interesting Stories Coming Out of The Rumble

New, 21 comments

Get in loser, we’re on the Road To WrestleMania!

This past Sunday, WWE officially kicked off their Road to WrestleMania. We all know that Edge won the men’s Rumble match and how that may or may not be a good thing moving forward. We also saw that WWE might have teased Christian’s future. However, a couple of other intriguing things may have come from both the men’s and women’s Rumble matches.

Let’s take a look at five we’re keeping an eye on.

Bad Bunny & Damian Priest vs. The Miz & John Morrison

De verdad Vince Los Pago para hacer esto?

Let’s be honest here; this is the most obvious thing to come from the Rumble. We all know every WrestleMania has some form of celebrity involvement. It might not be Money Mayweather in a match or Pete Rose getting tombstoned to hell, but there’s a safe bet there’s going to be a celebrity match.

After Bad Bunny performed “Booker T” with G.I. Bro standing there like a statue, the duo had a run-in with Miz and Morrison backstage. After Miz destroyed Bad Bunny’s DJ setup, Bad Bunny wanted revenge and ended up playing a hand in Miz and Morrison’s elimination. Not to mention Bunny delivered a better splash from the top rope than Snoop Dogg did. The story between Bunny and Miz continued on Raw this past week. It looks like Damian Priest will get his WrestleMania debut alongside Bad Bunny, and it will come at the expense of Mr. Money In The Bank (who desperately needs to cash in or lose the briefcase).

Rhea Ripley versus Alexa Bliss

WWE sees Rhea Ripley as a significant player and a vital part of the future for their women’s division. Just look at last year, the way they told the story between her and Charlotte, it’s easy for fans to believe that Rhea was the one who won the Rumble and not Charlotte.

With Rhea eliminating Alexa from the match during the middle of Alexa’s transformation sequence, it’s a safe bet to say that Little Miss Bliss won’t forget this. Add in the stare and trash-talking by Rhea, it’s evident that the seeds are there for a ‘Mania match between them. Expect things to continue at Elimination Chamber if the two find themselves in the women’s chamber match.

Lana versus Nia Jax and Shayna Bazler

We all know this is the likely outcome

This is the story that never ends, and most of us wish it would. After spending the last few months of 2020 on the receiving end of Nia Jax’s Dudley Boyz impersonation, Lana returned in the women’s Rumble match and immediately looked for revenge. Lana got a form of it by eliminating Nia Jax, who had just eliminated her partner. Follow that up with Lana winning a number one contender’s match with Naomi on Raw. WWE is setting up Lana to finally get the ultimate revenge by defeating Nia and Shayna at WrestleMania for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. That or she’s going through a table for the 1000th time. The only thing that could ruin this is how WWE chooses to handle the Women’s Dusty Cup winners and their presumed tag team title shot.

AJ Styles & Omos

The pairing of AJ Styles and Omos was a weird one when it first started, but it’s clear that this duo has found a way to make things work and even make Styles more hated as a heel. While Omos was not an official entry into this year’s Rumble, he helped Styles majorly by saving him from elimination a few times and eliminating Big E and Rey Mysterio. It’s clear that WWE has something planned for Omos down the line, given how much of a role he played. Omos pie facing Big E after eliminating him may be a sign that WWE is trying to find a way to a Styles vs. Big E match or perhaps Omos vs. E.

Charlotte Flair Outside of The Title Picture

Bye Charlotte, you still don’t go here

This is arguably the most interesting thing to come from this year’s Rumble matches. Charlotte dropped the Women’s Tag Team Titles on the pre-show and even ate the pin to the surprise of many. Follow that up with Charlotte making the final three in the Women’s Rumble match but being eliminated by Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair. It appears that for the first time in a long time, WWE may keep Charlotte away from a major title during WrestleMania season. Then again, we know that this feud with Lacey Evans can’t continue until April, so maybe there’s a chance Charlotte finds her way in. But for now, let’s celebrate what appears to be a ‘Mania season without Charlotte hunting or carrying gold.
