AEW Dynamite preview (Feb. 24, 2021): Fly up the Ladder

Tonight All Elite Wrestling comes our way from Jacksonville, Florida. Last week, Matt Hardy got bamboozled by one smart cowboy, MJF was reminded that everything he does is actually being filmed, Serena Deeb & Riho slew their first-round tournament match proving ONCE AGAIN that the women’s division deserves more Dynamite air time, Brian Cage powerbombed Sting straight into hell, Kenny Omega shipped the Young Bucks with a bunch of preschoolers, The Young Bucks defeated Santana & Ortiz to retain the tag team championships, Brandi & Cody did a gender reveal (eye roll), FTR beat up The Sydals, and Kenny Omega challenged Jon Moxley to the most ridiculous gimmick match he could think of.

This Week’s Headliner:

The Face of The Revolution Ladder match is taking shape and continues tonight when Rey Fenix takes on Lance Archer for a spot in the match. Already declared are Cody Rhodes, Scorpio Sky, and Penta El Zero, with three more spots remaining.

Lance Archer is great and everything, but it would be INSANE to keep Rey Fenix out of a ladder match. Have you seen this man? He has no fear and defies gravity. He was made to be in a ladder match.

Honestly, without even knowing who else is in the match, I feel very comfortable saying Fenix should win the whole thing. He has been on a hot streak lately, and if he can’t have the main belt, he sure as hell deserves the TNT Championship.

The Title Scene:

Dr. Britt Baker faces Nyla Rose in a second-round AEW Women’s Championship Eliminator bout. This match really could go either way, but my money is on Britt Baker as she is the only woman on the roster that gets consistent storylines regularly featured on Dynamite. That’s not to say she doesn’t deserve that time - she absolutely does - but rather that the writers should make their jobs easy and just crown a champion that they already like writing for.

They should additionally stop being all-around dicks and write better stories for the entire division, but that’s a different thought altogether.

Sting is surprisingly still alive after that powerbomb from Brian Cage. Tonight, he is looking for payback both for his neck and the neck of the TNT Champion (who is probably buried alive somewhere). Team Taz is in action against The Varsity Blondes tonight...seems like the perfect opportunity for a little Stinger revenge.

Last week The AEW World Champion, Kenny Omega, challenged Job Moxley to an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch. Which, honestly, seems like a mistake on Omega’s part. Moxley is no Darby Allin literally throwing himself off train tracks, but he’s close. He loves blood, carnage, and beatdowns.

To quell his thirst for mayhem, Jon Moxley will take on Ryan Nemeth tonight because if he can’t beat up Omega, he might as well beat up a Nemeth.

Presumably, The AEW Tag Team Champions are nursing their wounds (and their father’s wounds) from that brutal beatdown from The Inner Circle. They may also be nursing their wounds because their “best friend,” Kenny Omega, didn’t come to their aid. Awkward.

Other Things to Keep an Eye On:

-Hangman Page faces Private Party’s own Isiah Kassidy (out of the Jaguar suit) tonight as he prepares for his upcoming money match with Matt Hardy. Matt’s throwing around money for beatdowns, but The Dark Order has Hangman Page’s back for free. It’s basically a romcom at this point.

-Jake Hager wrestles Brandon Cutler? Sure. Whatever.
