With Wrestle Kingdom 15 firmly in our rear view mirror, we’re moving on to New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual February spectacular!
This year, New Beginning is split up into three shows, same as last year. All three shows, naturally, will air live and in full on NJPW World, so why not watch along with the best pro wrestling community on the internet?
Today’s action takes place in Hiroshima’s Sun Plaza Hall, kicking off at a ripe 1AM Eastern / 10PM Pacific, and is headlined by Kota Ibushi putting the IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental Championships on the line against SANADA!
Suzuki-gun (DOUKI, Taichi, & Zack Sabre, Jr.) over Gabriel Kidd, Yota Tsuji, & Yuya Uemura by submission with ZSJ Stylist Lock from Sabre on Kidd.
Master Wato, SHO, & Tomoaki Honma over Suzuki-gun (El Desperado, Minoru Suzuki, & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) by pinfall with La Carretera from Wato on Kanemaru.
Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, & Tetsuya Naito) over Bullet Club (El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori, & Yujiro Takahashi) by pinfall with Destino from Naito on Yujiro.
Bullet Club (Dick Togo & EVIL) vs. Chaos (Kazuchika Okada & Toru Yano) went to a double countout draw after EVIL lured Okada to the floor and trapped him with a chair, refusing to return to the ring.
This lead to a rare-for-NJ impromptu singles match...
Kazuchika Okada over EVIL by disqualification after Togo ran in and choked the Rainmaker.
Chaos (Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii, & YOSHI-HASHI) (c) over Bullet Club (“Switchblade” Jay White, Tama Tonga, & Tanga Loa) by pinfall with Kinkoji from Tacos on Loa to retain the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship.
Post-match, YOSHI-HASHI challenged Guerrillas of Destiny to a tag title match with him and Goto.
Kota Ibushi (c) over SANADA by pinfall with Kamigoye to retain the IWGP Heavyweight / IWGP Intercontinental Championships.
Post-match, Naito came out and challenged to Ibushi to a match just for the Intercontinental Championship, reasoning that Kota wants to unify the titles but he doesn’t want it to happen, and Ibushi accepted.
Enjoy the show!
