Last month, we finally learned where Buddy Matthews (former WWE Cruiserweight champion Buddy Murphy) was going to land after getting released by Vince McMahon’s company in June. With his New Japan debut set for next Saturday, we now have an idea of who he’s likely to face. The Aussie is not starting at the bottom of the ladder.

After defeating Tama Tonga at Power Struggle today (Nov. 6) to confirm his spot in the main event of the Tokyo Dome, G1 Climax winner Kazuchika Okada issued a challenge to Matthews for Battle in the Valley in San Jose on the 13th.

Getting The Rainmaker right out of the gate. Well alrightee then.

Here’s the confirmed line-up for next Saturday’s show, streaming at 11pm ET on NJPWWorld and Fite:

  • Jay White (c) vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the NEVER Openweight championship
  • Will Ospreay vs. Ren Narita
  • Clark Connors & Karl Fredericks vs. Jeff Cobb & TJP
  • Fred Rosser, David Finlay, Rocky Romero, Alex Zayne & Alex Coughlin vs. Team Filthy (Tom Lawlor, JR Kratos, Danny Limelight, Jorel nelson, & Royce Isaacs)
  • Moose vs. Juice Robinson
  • Josh Alexander vs. Yuya Uemura
  • Violence Unlimited (Chris Dickinson & Brody King) vs. Stray Dog Army (Bateman & Misterioso)
