Jacob Fatu defends world championship one night before biggest title fight in MLW history on Vice TV

Start the countdown clock for the biggest title fight in MLW history. Jacob Fatu will defend the MLW World Heavyweight Championship against Alexander Hammerstone, who is putting up the MLW National Openweight Championship for title versus title. That epic match will headline MLW’s debut episode on Vice TV airing Thursday at 10 pm ET.

First, Fatu has business to attend to on Fusion: ALPHA, airing Wednesday night at 7 pm ET on YouTube. In an effort to book super luchas, MLW matchmaker Cesar Duran (alias Dario Cueto) allowed Matt Cross (aka Son of Havoc) a shot at the world title. Fatu versus Cross for gold will headline the show.

Fusion: ALPHA will also feature a women’s featherweight fight when Willow Nightingale wrestles against Ashley Vox and tag team action for Konnan’s 5150 crew against Injustice as Danny Rivera and Slice Boogie rumble with Myron Reed and Jordan Oliver.

That’s a solid lineup. Fatu will be looking to make a dangerous statement by crushing Cross. The ladies aim to prove they belong. 5150 and Injustice are interested in maiming one another, however, it is the athletic ability of all involved which should produce a barn burner.

That show will lead in to Thursday night’s super fight on Vice TV at 10 pm ET. The feud between Fatu and Hammerstone has been a long time in the making. Once the national champ declared his interest in going for bigger glory, the Contra Unit put a target on Hammer’s back. Josef Samael held contractual leverage to deny Hammerstone, so Hammerman had one path remaining to earn the opportunity. That was to win Battle Riot III. Hammerstone did exactly that and decided to cash in for his shot at MLW’s top prize.

It is going to be a major league hoss fight. Just watching the behind the scenes vignette will make consumers reach maximum pumpitude in anticipation.

That won’t be the only super lucha booked by Duran for Fightland. He also scheduled Myron Reed to defend the MLW World Middleweight Championship in a four-way against Aramis, Arez, and Tajiri on the Vice TV show.

Despite the numerous ways to watch MLW, this jacked episode will only air on Vice TV. MLW CEO Court Bauer made that clear.

If you are in the mood for binge watching to catch up for Thursday night Fightland on Vice TV at 10 pm ET, go with Battle Riot III, episode 1 of Fusion: ALPHA, and episode 2 of Fusion: ALPHA. It is also safe to assume Wednesday night’s episode 3 of Fusion: ALPHA will be added to the binge list. Be sure to use the Vice TV channel finder (here) to get in on the action.

In an item relating to last week’s Fusion: ALPHA, Richard Holliday explained that he wasn’t actually saving Alicia Atout from harm.

Closing note. The Fightland matches were taped on October 2, so be careful not to spoil the outcomes if you want it to be fresh.

Are you picking Jacob Fatu or Alexander Hammerstone to stand alone holding the MLW World Heavyweight Championship?
