Moxley/Archer AEW World title match announced for Dynamite anniversary show

AEW on TNT’s Twitter

Lance Archer earned* an AEW World title shot at All Out when he was the last man standing in the Casino Battle Royal. Jon Moxley successfully defended the belt against MJF on that same PPV.

Time for a rematch of Wrestle Kingdom 14’s IWGP United States title fight.

It probably won’t be a Texas Deathmatch this time, but it should be a doozy. They’re giving both men time to prepare - and Mox and Archer’s manager Jake Roberts plenty of time to promo at one another - as they’ve announced the match for Oct. 14. It’s an episode of Dynamite they’re calling their anniversary show.

AEW debuted on TNT on Oct. 2, 2019, so that’s close enough. Archer/Moxley is also a pretty stout match to build a show around. There’s not much chance of a title change, but it should be a slobberknocker. And with Full Gear less than a month away on Sat., Nov. 9,we could see the champ’s next challenger emerge during or after his battle with the Murderhawk Monster.

See you then.

* As Eddie Kingston pointed out tonight, Archer didn’t put him over the top rope in the battle royal (he climbed the ringpost after getting to the apron by going under the top rope), so he’s got an argument to get in the mix at some point.
