AEW Rankings (Sep. 9, 2020): New #1

AEW released their latest rankings (Sep. 9, 2020). Let’s check out the movers and shakers.

Men:

AEW

There is movement aplenty this week. Lance Archer jumped up one spot to #1 after winning the Casino Battle Royale at All Out for a future title shot. Brian Cage moved up two spots to #2 after a strong showing in the Battle Royale and an easy win on Dark. Voters must have been impressed with Cage unleashing the Weapon X finisher for the first time in AEW. MJF dropped two places to #3 after his loss to Jon Moxley at All Out. All that shuffling knocked Cody Rhodes down a spot to #4.

Women:

AEW

No changes here. Hikaru Shida successfully retained her title against Thunder Rosa at All Out. Big Swole scored a top 5 win by defeating Dr. Britt Baker DMD in the dentist office.

Nyla Rose finally has an interesting test to earn a rematch with Shida. Big Swole has a big mouth, so let’s see her bravado against the Native Beast. Swole has been racking up wins. Time to put her to the test against someone who isn’t injured. Both would make interesting challengers for Shida’s next defense.

Tag Team:

FTR takes the champ spot after winning gold from long-time champs Hangman Page & Kenny Omega. The former champs slide into the #1 spot after their 228-day reign. The Young Bucks beat Jurassic Express at All Out to knock the dino and his boy off the charts. The Bucks weren’t able to skip over Best Friends, likely due to their recent head-to-head clash in the gauntlet match last month. Santana & Ortiz are back in the top 5 after an creative victory over Best Friends on last week’s Dynamite.

It is interesting that Hangman & Omega are ranked. After Omega stormed out of All Out, it seemed like their partnership was dissolved. I wonder if AEW matchmakers will try to book them as a unit one more time. I also wonder what it would take for Hangman & Omega to be booted from the rankings. Will it require a firm divorce declaration or will they slide down after weeks of inactivity?

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
