The AEW women’s division is a bit short-handed during the global pandemic, so NWA world women’s champion Thunder Rosa is now defending her gold on AEW television.
The champ battled Ivelisse on tonight’s (Sept. 16) episode of Dynamite. The AEW women’s champion, Hikaru Shida, was watching from behind the ringside barricade, while Diamante (Ivelisse’s tag partner when they recently won the Deadly Draw tournament) was standing ringside to support her partner.
Rosa and Ivelisse went back and forth in an exciting match that saw the champ cap off a win with a Tombstone piledriver.
Diamante attacked Rosa after the match, and that’s when business picked up:

Shida helped Rosa out of a jam, and then respectfully presented the NWA world women’s title to the champion. It was later announced that the two champions will be teaming up for a tag match next week (Sept. 23) on Dynamite against Ivelisse and Diamante.
