Rumor Roundup (Sept. 10, 2020): Rusev/AEW, Royal Rumble & Hell in a Cell plans, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Miro’s contract with AEW is for more than one year.
  • WWE has a city in mind for the 2021 Royal Rumble, per WrestleVotes. They also hope to have fans back before then, but “are keeping an eye on what the NBA & NHL do for next season regarding fans and capacity levels.”
  • Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda claims he’s heard that Hell in a Cell will be headlined by Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton in a Cell match.
  • The promotion of Bonnie Hammer to Vice Chairperson of NBCUniversal, covered by The Wrap, is seen as good news for WWE. Hammer’s long been an ally of Vince McMahon’s at USA Network’s parent company.
  • Fightful Select reports WWE is renovating & remodeling the Orlando Performance Center, and talent is currently training at a makeshift facility nearby.

If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you’d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. And check our weekly Rumor Look Back here to keep track of how often rumors turn out to be correct.
