There was no upset in this TakeOver qualifier

The last two weeks served up some upsets in the TakeOver: XXX North American title ladder match.

Bronson Reed won a match featuring Roderick Strong and Johnny Gargano. Dexter Lumis won a match that had Finn friggin’ Bálor in it. Upsets indeed.

This week’s match felt more obvious. Damian Priest had to be the clear favoriting coming in against Oney Lorcan and former rugby player, and brick s***house, Ridge Holland. Priest has been featured in big spots. The other two men haven’t.

For the first time since these triple threats began, the favorite won.

Ridge Holland looked impressive with his utter strength. It was quite the debut for the big man. Oney Lorcan always impresses with his style and hopefully he’s get a legit run in a singles role eventually. But Priest was the victor to the surprise of no one.

In the end of the bout, the Archer of Infamy delivered a huge sitting chokeslam to the massive Holland before delivering the Reckoning to Lorcan to advance to the TakeOver ladder match.

As of now he will join Bronson Reed and Dexter Lumis at TakeOver: XXX for the North American title, but there’s mention of a leg injury for Lumis that could affect his status in the match.
