TNT shuffles AEW schedule for NBA, resulting in Dynamite vs. TakeOver

TNT Drama

At some point, the NBA playoffs were going to TNT to pre-empt AEW Dynamite. COVID delayed the changes, but with the Association re-starting play last week, the time has come.

Warner Media confirmed the three shows being moved in a press release earlier today (Aug. 3).

Due to the NBA’s schedule, AEW: Dynamite will make the following shifts on TNT:

* The Wednesday, August 19 episode will air on Saturday, August 22 at 6:00pm ET / 3:00pm PT
* The Wednesday, August 26 episode will air Thursday, August 27 at 8:00pm ET/PT
* The Wednesday, September 16 episode will air Thursday, September 17 at 8:00pm ET/PT

The first is eye-catching, as Sat. Aug 22 is the date of TakeOver: XXX show. Dynamite will run against the first hour of NXT’s latest event. It’s on WWE Network, so we won’t get to dissect ratings the way we normally would. But it’s an interesting situation nonetheless.

It will be intriguing to see how not going head-to-head on these three dates affects NXT’s numbers on USA Network. They’ll still have the NBA as competition, but wrestling fans won’t have to make a choice those weeks.

Unaffected are the Dynamite episodes before and after AEW’s next PPV. Viewers will find the final push and fall out from Sept. 5’s All Out in their usual timeslot.
