- Dave Meltzer said Payback being a week after SummerSlam is just an experiment WWE is running with to see how it works out.
- There may also be a big angle at SummerSlam that demands an immediate follow up.
- For whatever it’s worth, Cody Rhodes told a fan that AEW had no contact with Goldberg and recent word they wanted to bring him in “isn’t real.”
- Tom Colohue noted on Twitter that “very few people within WWE support the rumor that practically everybody has contacted AEW at some point.”
- Tony Schiavone told Ron Funches he was “kind of offered a job with WWE” at the same time AEW did.
