AEW Fallout: MJF petition to ban Paradigm Shift, Arn Anderson ducking Mr. Brodie, more!

The big stories coming out of Dynamite (Aug. 12, 2020) were Cody Rhodes retaining the TNT Championship against Scorpio Sky, Hangman Page & Kenny Omega keeping tag team gold against Jurassic Express, Jon Moxley assaulting MJF, and Orange Cassidy upsetting Chris Jericho. The fallout includes a petition to ban the Paradigm Shift, Arn Anderson advising Cody to hold off on Mr. Brodie Lee as his next challenger, and other goodies.

MJF’s evening started out pretty well by receiving an endorsement from Chris Jericho. It quickly descended into terror after Jon Moxley ambushed MJF with a Paradigm Shift. MJF had to be rushed to the hospital.

That has caused the wrestling community to rally behind MJF with a petition to ban the Paradigm Shift.

After MJF was left nearly unable to walk, Mark Sterling, Esquire, legal counsel for MJF, penned a lengthy document deriding Moxley’s barbaric behavior. Here is a portion of the petition.

My client is calling for a ban of Jonathan Moxley’s move The Paradigm Shift. The sole purpose of this high-risk move (double underhook DDT) is to drive an opponent’s head into the mat. Professional wrestlers on the receiving end of this move are subject to unacceptable levels of risk as it relates to spinal, neck and/or brain injuries.

My client has stated on the record his plan to be the top guy in professional wrestling for the next 25 years. This can only be achieved, however, if my client is able to participate in wrestling matches in a professional environment with an acceptable level of risk.

As of this writing, the petition has collected 3028 signatures. One of those is from Taz.

After Cody Rhodes successfully defended the TNT Championship against Scorpio Sky, Mr. Brodie Lee called Cody out to be the next challenger. Head coach Arn Anderson is concerned about Cody’s health. He is considering pushing that match back to give Cody time to heal.

It seems like Arn never wants Cody to defend against anyone. He often suggests ducking opponents. He has a point about wear and tear, but that’s the breaks when conducting a weekly open challenge. I’m glad Arn’s opinion was overruled. That bout will go down Saturday, August 22 on Dynamite (moved from Wednesday due to the NBA playoffs).

Here’s one more shot of the finished TNT Championship title belt with a side-by-side comparison to the first model.

NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa has AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida in her sights.

The reason this particular comment is of interest is because Cody replied with that hallway ear GIF. That means she is on Cody’s radar. If AEW could pull that title fight off for the All Out PPV on September 5, it would be my bet for match of the night. I think Thunder Rosa is in the top 5 for women in US promotions. Thunder Rosa would stand toe-to-toe with Shida and not think twice.

Kevin Nash offered high praise for referee Mike Chioda after he debuted with AEW.

Will you be signing MJF’s petition to ban the Paradigm Shift? What are the odds Mr. Brodie Lee takes the TNT Championship from Cody?
