Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Charlotte Flair had surgery days ago, according to talkSPORT, and it went well but she won’t be cleared in time for SummerSlam.
- The reason WWE changed Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler to a non-title match, per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, is because they wanted to get to the start of McIntyre vs. Randy Orton as soon as possible.
- For that matter, Meltzer said WWE tore up the promo written for Orton where he would challenge McIntyre, then decided to put it back in.
- Original plans called for Rollins & Murphy to take Aleister Black out in an injury angle that would put him on the shelf for some time, per the Observer.
- Rey Mysterio still hasn’t signed a new contract with WWE, per Meltzer.
