AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JULY 15

This is an oath to the fallen heroes. This is an ode to the ones we lost. This was then and now, I’m here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with a hype reel for tonight’s card.

Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Sonny Kiss (AEW TNT Championship)

Rhodes with a pump kick out the gate, flurry of strikes in the corner, front suplex into the ropes and Cody does push-ups to impress... somebody. Kiss dumps him out to the apron, Rhodes skins the cat, Beautiful Disaster... NOPE! Sonny rolls out to the floor, Cody gets a pep talk from Arn Anderson and takes things back inside but Kiss nails him with a wicked rolling elbow!

Back outside, Sonny pressing the advantage, hanging Rhodes up on the apron and stomping his back! Back inside, Cody off the ropes, Kiss slides low and hits a series of kicks! Fired up, handspring slap caught, champion with a full nelson applied! Sonny slips out, dropkick sets up an overhead exploder and she kips up!

Charging in, up and over, Kiss with a boot, off the second with a Frankensteiner! Matrix evasion into a handstand headscissors, calling for it, charge in, catch the boot and Sonny pops Cody in the mouth! Handspring dropkick, cover... NOT ENOUGH! Splits leg drop misses, Rhodes with a kick, inverted facelock countered... SONNY HITS A CROSS RHODES OF HER OWN FOR TWO!

Up top, looking to capitalize... 450 SPLASH BUT RHODES HAS THE WILL TO KICK OUT! Jockeying for position in the ropes, Cody counters and Kiss takes a spill on the ramp! ALABAMA SLAM ON THE RAMP! Back inside, cover made but Sonny gets a foot on the ropes! Rhodes with a wristlock, short-arm kicks, Cody gets her up... COP KILLER! NO DICE!

Up top, superplex connects, Rhodes with a cover for a tight two! Rhodes with a LeBell Lock, wrenching it way back, no good! Back and forth, escalating...

Cody Rhodes wins by pinfall with Cross Rhodes to retain the AEW TNT Championship.

Commentary runs down the rest of the card and we go to break.

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) vs. Lucha Brothers (Pentagon, Jr. & Rey Fenix)

Harwood and Pentagon to start, Jr. overwhelming Dax with strikes but he gets caught when he goes for the Cero Miedo taunt! Trading strikes with aplomb, Lucha Brothers running double-teams as they take the momentum in the match. Harwood floats over a suplex, tag made, Fenix off the ropes and he gets caught with a Demolition Decapitation for two!

Keeping Rey cut off in the corner, Penta gets a tag soon enough and they clear the apron before nailing Wheeler with stereo superkicks! With the brothers in charge, we go to break.

Back from commercial, Wheeler is in a bad way but gets away to tag Harwood in! Right hands, fending both brothers off, snap suplexes on Fenix, and he finishes the triple set by suplexing Pentagon into his own brother! Short-arm lariat takes Jr. down, Fenix off the ropes, la casadora blocked... GALLON THROW!

Cover for two, tag to Cash, Penta with a low bridge and Fenix with a kick as Jr. tags in legal. Double team leg kicks, alley oop splash, springboard leg drop... NOPE! Looking for the spike package piledriver, blocked, Wheeler deadlifts out of a Frankensteiner, tag to Harwood... ODE TO THE BULLDOGS BUT PENTAGON BREAKS THE PIN UP!

Penta in the turnbuckles, Dax cuts him off, all four men in the ring and the action breaks down into a two-on-two brawl! Referee Paul Turner trying to restore order, Penta with a Sling Blade on Wheeler right after the other two fall to the floor in all the fighting, to the apron, underhooks blocked, Cash with a headbutt!

Jockeying for position, neither man able to get the suplex on the apron, Pentagon off the ropes, baseball slide, nobody home, Wheeler runs the ropes... SUICIDE TORNADO DDT! FENIX WITH THE SPRINGBOARD SPLASH! Brawling with Dax on the floor, back inside, forearm gets a crescent kick, Harwood ducks a second, thinks fast and yanks at Fenix’s mask...

FTR win by pinfall with an inside cradle from Dax Harwood on Rey Fenix.

Post-match, Butcher and the Blade jaw at FTR from the vicinity of their stolen truck when the Young Bucks sneak up behind them and lay them out with superkicks! They’ve got the keys to the truck and Kenny Omega comes from the back with a cooler in hand. The Elite boys get in the ring, Matt gives Dax the truck keys and Omega pulls out beers for them all to share to make amends for his prior actions.

FTR dump their beers out on Kenny’s head! The Bucks have to hold him back!

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, the Inner Circle make their entrance, jugs of orange juice in hand.

Chris Jericho gets on the mic and says last week he had one of the best matches in AEW history against Orange Cassidy, and what’s more he won the ratings war like he does each and every week. He claims he’s never, ever been beaten in the 18-49 demo. Sigh. He goes on to brag about how everybody told him he elevated Orange, and everybody and their cousin wants a rematch.

He polls the crowd before pulling the rug out from under us and saying that he’s not doing a rematch because Cassidy had his chance and didn’t do good enough. Orange took him to the edge and he did a great job but he’s not scared of him, so he’s not getting a rematch. They pour out the juice for him and “his dead career.”

Enter Orange Cassidy.

Jericho says he gets it, Orange wants to hear it face-to-face, so he’s gonna tell him what he really thinks. He showed the world he can really go, but he’s lazy, he’s got a bad attitude, he’s a sloth, he’s entitled, so he’ll say it one more time— there will never be a rematch. So take those sunglasses, fold ‘em up, shove ‘em straight up your ass, and get the hell out of his arena.

Y2J calls him a piece of shit but Orange just gives him the lazy thumbs up... BEFORE THUMBS DOWNING HIM! ORANGE JUICE RAINS FROM THE CEILING! The Inner Circle are apoplectic, and even moreso when Jericho only has an Orange Cassidy towel to clean up with!

And so to break.

Backstage, Jurassic Express are interviewed.

Marko Stunt explains how the Inner Circle getting soaked is funny, but Luchasaurus cuts him off to be serious. After 65 million years, a dinosaur finally has a chance to wrestle the Elite, and there’s nothing funny about that.

Chris Jericho has joined commentary to whine about having orange juice dumped on him.

Jurassic Express (“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, Luchasaurus, & Marko Stunt) vs. the Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson)

Perry and Nick to start, mat grappling in the feeling out, Jackson with a solebutt as the temperature goes up. Block the slingshot X-Factor, backflip into a kneel, stalemate! Hangman Page is shown drinking and watching backstage, and we get tags. Omega and Stunt, Kenny shoves him to the mat! Shoving match, Omega fakes out a handshake and Marko fires up!

Slap rush, off the ropes... KENNY DROPS HIM WITH A CHOP! Hip toss reversed, cover for two! Kick to the midsection, step-up tijeras, dropkick, Omega forced to beg off! Kenny gets serious and takes his shirt off, but Nick directs traffic and we get tags to shift to Luchasaurus and Matt. Throwing hands, the dinosaur cuts him off, off the ropes, pop-up drop into a rolling knee... NOPE!

Tag to Stunt, using the small man as a weapon, DDT puts Jackson on the floor, Jungle Boy with a wheelbarrow arm drag and Marko follows it up! Nick to the apron, kicks lay Jack and Marko both out, Omega in with Luchasaurus, nailing him with a dropkick that sends him to the floor! Terminator thumps, off the ropes... TOPE CON GIRO!

The Elite regroup and we go to break.

Back from commercial, the Bucks have Perry locked down but he’s starting to fight out with a headscissors over the ropes and to the floor! Omega jumps right on him but gets laid out with a lariat on the floor! Springboard tornado DDT hammers Matt Jackson! Luchasaurus in, taking the Bucks out with kicks, a chokeslam into a standing moonsault for Nick!

Kenny makes the save at the last possible fraction of a second, we cut to see FTR rolling up to the bar with Page. Trading forearms, V-Trigger staggers Luchasaurus and a second knee knocks him into the ropes! Dragon suplex! Another for Marko! A third for Jungle Boy! Off the ropes, back elbow from the dinosaur sets up an assisted Frankensteiner from Stunt!

EXTINCTION EVENT! BUCKS MAKE THE SAVE! They smash Marko and Jack into the apron, Bucks with a Superkick Party on Luchasaurus... TRIPLE PILEDRIVER! NO GOOD! Jungle Boy avalanche Frankensteiner sets up the 450 splash from Stunt... NO DICE! Matt dumps Jack to the floor, back body drops Marko into his teammates and then tags himself in!

Luchasaurus with the double goozle, headbutt to Nick but Matt fights out, perched on the ropes... MARKO STUNT SPRINGBOARD FLIP PILEDRIVER WHAT THE HELL OMEGA BREAKS IT UP! DRAGON SUPLEX SPIKES MARKO ON HIS HEAD! Kenny calls for it, off the ropes, Luchasaurus gets in the way and takes the V-Trigger for his partner!

V-Trigger from Stunt, dragging him up, electric chair, he slips out, folding press... ALMOST! V-Trigger, back to the electric chair...

The Elite win by pinfall with One-Winged Angel from Kenny Omega on Marko Stunt.

Post-match, Kenny unloads forarms on Stunt but Nick Jackson pulls him off! The Elite bicker amongst themselves.

Hikaru Shida is interviewed backstage about how four of her top five contenders are out for various reasons.

She’s game to give Nyla Rose her rematch, and if she thinks she’s strong enough, tough enough, and has enough passion, she’s waiting.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a Jon Moxley promo.

He talks about how the last couple weeks haven’t been the best but he gets to go out there and purge his feelings with the AEW World Championship match. He’s wearing a Danny Havoc shirt and there are tears in my eyes, y’all. Anyway, he says Taz says he can’t hit the Paradigm Shift? Fine, he’ll just rip Brian Cage’s surgically repaired bicep clean off the bone.

Kenzie Paige & MJ Jenkins vs. Nightmare Sisters (Allie & Brandi Rhodes)

Paige and Rhodes to start, Brandi immediately dropping her with a pump kick! Forearm strike, whip to the corner, charge in, back elbow, tag to Allie. Off the ropes, sliding lariat, she takes a bow before drawing Kenzie up for knee lifts. Off the ropes, blind tag, knee strike into a superkick! Paige with forearms, whip across, Brandi ducks a lariat and hits a Sling Blade!

Tags made, Allie in hot, laying Jenkins out with a lariat, drop down slap, off the ropes, bulldog! Rhodes with a spear to take Kenzie out, MJ with a knee to the midsection, Allie reverses a slam...

Nightmare Sisters win by pinfall with an inverted headlock elbow from Allie on MJ Jenkins.

We get a hype reel for the upcoming AEW action figure line to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Nyla Rose makes her entrance for an in-ring interview.

She isn’t telling us anything about who her manager is, because she’s going to let them say it for themselves— IT’S VICKIE GUERRERO!

Vickie refuses to tell us anything about her strategy, but when she and Nyla are ready to go after the title, it’ll be the perfect time, and she’s got a special message for the women’s locker room. From this moment on, she’s begging them to stop lying to themselves about how great they are, admit they’re too stupid to cheat to win, and to realize that Nyla is going to steal every opportunity they’ve ever dreamed of!

Brian Cage and Taz make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, I was out of the room for a second and I missed most of a Taz promo but I’m sure he was talking about how Cage was going to beat him.

Brian Cage vs. Jon Moxley (c) (AEW World Championship)

Moxley ducks a lariat, right hands, putting Cage in the corner and punching away! Whip across, Brian takes him out with a lariat! Ramming Jon into the corner, shoulder thrusts, corner lariats, short-arm lariat, who betta than Cage? Mox going after the arm, armbar takedown blocked, Brian scoops him up, curls him a few times, and hits a standing fallaway slam!

Whip into the corner, charging uppercut, gamengiri, waistlock, blocked with back elbows. Boots up, missile dropkick off the second and Moxley takes his Danny Havoc t-shirt off! Snap off a cross armbreaker over the bottom rope, smashing the Machine’s arm into the mat, stepover armbreaker follows! Shoulder armbreakers, snapmare, Penalty Kick off the ropes and right into the cross armbar!

Cage turns him around, raining down grounded forearms, Saito suplex drops the champ on his neck! Front chancery from the apron, blocked, Jon snaps his arm into the top rope and puts Brian shoulder-first into the ringpost and to the floor! Taz regrouping with his client, Moxley off the ropes with a suicide dive and right into a double wristlock!

Cage overpowers him into the barricade but the damage is done as he shakes his arm out! Taking Mox into the crowd, chops against an internal barricade, but the champ wrenches his arm, threads it through the barricade, and kicks it! Dragging a barricade over, leaning it against the ring, jockeying for position over a suplex, underhooks, blocked... GERMAN SUPLEX PUTS MOX INTO THE GUARDRAIL! WE GOTTA GO TO BREAK!

Back from commercial, Cage has an Argentine backbreaker rack locked in and swings him into the Argentine neckbreaker... NOPE! Camel Clutch applied, to his feet, right hands, off the ropes, Brian drops him to the apron with a back elbow and knocks him off and into the barricade! Jockeying for position on the floor... CAGE SUPLEXES HIM INTO A FOLDING CHAIR!

Throwing the champ back inside, bumping forearms with Taz, Brian gets in the ring but Jon goes for a small package for two! Posting him, schoolboy pin, just a nearfall! Forearms connect... SNAP SCOOP POWERSLAM FOLLOWED UP BY A DIVING MOONSAULT BUT THERE’S NO WATER IN THE POOL! Mox with a series of Knee Tremblers but Cage fires up!

Lariats from the champ keep him off balance, underhooks blocked, jumping knee from Cage! Rolling elbow countered, Paradigm Shift... CAGE KICKS OUT! Moxley with a lariat in the corner, setting the Machine up top, jockeying for position... SUPERPLEX! Slow to cover... ONLY TWO AND RIGHT INTO THE DOUBLE WRISTLOCK!

Brian to his feet, deadlift... BUCKLE BOMB! Jon to the apron, Cage climbs up onto the middle rope.... DEADLIFT SUPERPLEX! Drill Claw countered, back to the cross armbar in the middle of the ring! Brian locks his hands after a beat but Mox kicks away, trying to peel his grip open, clawing at his fingers... WISHBONING THE FINGERS! FULL EXTENSION ON THE ARMBAR!

Brian rolls and posts to his feet, Mox shifts into a grapevine Fujiwara armbar! Rolling it over, Ode to Jim Breaks briefly before falling back into the cross armbar with maximum extension right in front of Taz! Rolling over, giving Taz the finger, grapevine Fujiwara armbar and Taz throws in the towel! It’s over!

Jon Moxley wins by submission with a grapevined Fujiwara armbar to retain the AEW World Championship.

Post-match, Cage drops Moxley with a shot from the FTW Championship! Mounted punches with his healthy right hand— THE LIGHTS GO OUT!

They come back up... DARBY ALLIN IS BACK! DIVING SKATEBOARD SHOT OFF THE TOP SENDS CAGE REELING!

Referee Rick Knox raises Moxley’s hand while he gives Allin a little nod.

Cage tries coming back to the ring but Taz holds him back. Referees and ring crew join the crush holding him back and he nearly overpowers them but they manage to convince the Machine to head to the back.

Moxley offers Allin a fist bump as we fade to black.

That’s the show, folks.
