WWE is dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19 right now, and Renee Young is one of their performers who was infected. Jon Moxley is her husband, which means he has been exposed to the virus. That already put a wrench in AEW’s plans on last week’s episode of Dynamite, and it has now changed the main event of for Fyter Fest night two, airing next week on July 8.
Moxley was supposed to defend the AEW world championship against Brian Cage on that episode, in a match that was supposed to be taped tomorrow (July 2). Plans have changed, with AEW announcing that Moxley will instead defend the title against Cage one week later, on July 15, at Fight for the Fallen.
In place of the AEW world title match, the promotion has announced that Private Party will challenge for the AEW world tag team titles next week at Fyter Fest night two.
This was the right call, because it’s too soon for Moxley to leave quarantine right now, considering the circumstances surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
