New Japan Pro Wrestling will begin running shows again next week

As announced in the above video during a special press conference held earlier this evening, New Japan Pro Wrestling will resume operations starting with live events next week. The promotion will run shows from June 15-17, June 22-24, and July 1-3. All shows will be empty arena.

In addition, it was revealed the New Japan Cup will run from June 16 to July 3.

As for how they’re dealing with the coronavirus, it was announced they’ve started testing for Covid-19 and that testing extends to all wrestlers, referees, and staff.

Hiroshi Tanahashi had this to say about the return:

“The cancellation of scheduled events hurt fans and pro wrestlers alike. I became concerned that our return would take longer than we could imagine. That’s why I’m thrilled that we are able to return on June 15. And you can count on us pro wrestlers to give you everything that we couldn’t these past few months. We’re going to create and deliver a fresh NJPW to everyone. Everyone, let’s get ready to have some fun.”

See you next week!
