AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JUNE 3
Riding up the alley in the rain, no lights to show the way. How could this ever be their home? Through the darkness you could only see a giant shadow which was to be a house where evil ruled at night, and the shadows at the gate, they seemed to be alive, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this pro wrestling show.
The show opens with a black lives matter video package, as it well should.
A video package recapping last week’s show follows.
Jimmy Havoc & Kip Sabian vs. the Elite (“Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega) (c) (AEW World Tag Team Championship)
Omega and Havoc to start, circling, collar and elbow, jockeying for position in the ropes, Penelope Ford makes herself known and Jimmy nails him with a forearm! Side headlock, Havoc maintains control and the heels work the Cleaner over for a long beat. Kenny eventually gets a sheerdrop brainbuster off on Havoc to the approval of FTR in the crowd and we get a tag!
Page in hot, charging lariat sets up a short-arm lariat, tag to Kenny, springboard axehandle and a quick tag right back. Cutting the tag off, laying chops in on Havoc as referee Rick Knox makes his count. Kip springboard crossbody caught, fallaway slam, Ford up top... DIVING FRANKENSTEINER ON HANGMAN CAUGHT!
He drops her at Knox’s behest and he throws Penelope out! Havoc from behind with a wrench, wiping Page and Omega out both, cover... HANGMAN BARELY KICKS OUT! Back to his feet, Jimmy lines him up, sidestep the charge. Northern elbow from Havoc, smashing Adam in the corner, laying chops in, clawing at his face!
Kip with the cheap-shot enzuigiri and then the tag, putting boots to Page, baseball slide sends him to the floor! Jimmy drawing him up, smashing his face into the apron, sending him back in for the cover, only two! Havoc tags back in, axehandles, snapmare, clawing at his face again and tagging Kip back in. Clear the apron, Penalty Kick!
Page gets up, punches on punches, cut off, double whip into the corner but he meets them with elbow and boot! Roll under, tag to Omega! In hot with axehandles, Sabian with a front kick, whip reversed, into a fireman’s carry... Finlay Roll countered! Kip with a pump kick, Kenny rolls over him and snaps a Frankensteiner off!
One for Havoc as well, back to Sabian, back suplex lift gets him hung up in the corner. Fireman’s carry on Jimmy, Finlay Roll into the rope-hung lungblower on Kip... NOPE! Tag to Page, double whip, double boot, off the ropes, pump kick into the Kotaro Krusher into a shooting star press... SO CLOSE!
Match breaks down, Havoc has a hacksaw of all things but gets booted off the apron! Fallaway slam to Sabian, plancha takes Jimmy out, Hangman off the ropes with a big lariat... HAVOC BREAKS IT UP! Dumping Jimmy to the floor, Page tags Omega in. Kenny charges out of the corner, nobody home on the backsplash, big tornado DDT spikes Omega on his dome!
Tag to Havoc, charging in, boots up, Shoryuken cuts Kenny off and Jimmy Death Valley Drivers him into Page in the corner! Diving double stomp from Kip, tag to Jimmy, Sing the Sorrow... HANGMAN BREAKS IT UP! Page fighting both men from the floor, springboard dropkick hits an already-staggered Omega, Poison Frankensteiner follows it up!
Havoc back in, Omega manufactures a malfunction at the junction, Dragon suplex takes Jimmy out and a V-Trigger clobbers Kip! Stack the heels up in the corner, charging strikes, rolling elbow sets up a German suplex and the champs are rolling! Powerbomb into the V-Trigger, Havoc is wobbling...
The Elite win by pinfall with the lariat / V-Trigger combination to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we see Tully Blanchard give what is alleged to be a pep talk to Shawn Spears, but it’s more like he’s just screaming at him that he needs to change something in his heart.
More footage plays of Tully getting a car with Spears and saying he thinks he has the missing piece in a little box. He opens it up, Shawn pulls a single black fingerless glove out and puts it on.
Commentary recaps last week’s closing angle and Brian Cage squash for us.
Brian Cage vs. Shawn Dean
Cage obliterates him out the gates, tosses him around a bunch, buckle bomb sets him up...
Brian Cage wins by pinfall with Drill Claw.
Post-match, Taz gets on the mic and talks about his conversation with Jon Moxley last week. He calls Mox out for having the audacity to snicker and giggle while they were speaking, and says this isn’t a joke to them. This is serious, and he needs to get his head on right or his head is getting taken off at Fyter Fest.
Beat him if you can, survive if he lets you!
Enter Jon Moxley.
He gets to the ring and Taz tells him to be careful and think about it before proceeding. Mox gets on the mic and says this is fun, and the reason he was smiling last week and is smiling right now, because the thought of stepping into the ring with Cage, intense and aggressive, makes him happy. That’s why he’s in this business!
But be clear, stepping into the ring with his title on the line, is the farthest thing from a game. He tells Cage he’s impressive, and seemingly indestructible, but Mox is only human and can be beaten, but it’ll take all night. Taking the AEW Championship away from him is a different prospect entirely, and Cage will be in over his head.
With all due respect, don’t waste your time or Moxley’s trying intimidate him, and remember just who the hell you’re talking about.
Mox leaves, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get a hype reel for AEW’s action figure line.
Lance Archer is interviewed from some kind of demolition site.
He says one loss means nothing to him and nobody in AEW is gonna stop him. He’s no spot monkey, he’s a monster, and he’s gonna show us pain and torture like you’ve never experienced before. When he says everybody dies, he means everybody dies.
We get a recap of last week’s trios match opener and Marq Quen getting helped to the back.
Private Party get a vignette where Isiah Kassidy pours Quen a drink and says these things happen.
Enter Matt Hardy, he asks how Marq’s knee is doing and he dances a little to show off how healthy he is and confirms he’s not missing any time. Hardy says he enjoys their work and thinks they’re the future of tag team wrestling, and their bond reminds them of the bond he and his brother shared.
Private Party mark out and Hardy says if they need anything, advice, whatever, just hook him up. They pitch a trios unit, the Hardy Party, and Matt says he likes it and loves their enthusiasm and whenever they get a match lined up, let him know.
Hardy leaves and runs into Sammy Guevara and his scooter in the hallway. He says they’re cool and bows to him before leaving.
A video package hyping up Cody Rhodes’ TNT Championship reign sends us to break.
Back from commercial, we get a video package hyping up Fyter Fest, which will be the 7/1 and 7/8 episodes of Dynamite.
A recap of the Inner Circle / Mike Tyson segment from last week follows, plus addition post-show backstage footage of Tyson saying he’s coming for Jericho and Chris yelling at Colt Cabana.
Chris Jericho vs. Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana
Cabana with body blows into the corner, Jericho with an eye rake, lighting him up with a flurry of punches in the opposite corner, referee Aubrey Edwards. Action to the floor, Colt with an Asai moonsault that takes Y2J and Jake Hager out together! Smashing Jericho’s head into the timekeeper’s table, putting him back inside, but Hager runs interference and Cabana spills to the floor from the top!
Jericho regroups and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Jericho choking Cabana in the corner, right hands to the face, disdainful slaps, Colt fires up into forearms and chops! Whip across, back elbow, slow to capitalize and Cabana kicks out! Drawing him up, smashing him face-first into the turnbuckles, again Colt firing back, whip to the corner, off the ropes, one-handed bulldog countered and Y2J goes crotch-first into the turnbuckles!
Trading punches, lariat, whip across, duck the return, Flip, Flop, & Fly! Flying Asshole follows it up, Cabana up top, diving splash... NOPE! Going for the Lionsault, nobody home, land on his feet, Bionic Elbow from Colt! Jericho lures him in and counters the Superman pin into the Walls of Jericho! Crawling, desperate, reaching... CABANA GETS THE ROPES!
Jericho thinks he’s won, headscissors takes Chris out, corner lariat, avalanche Frankensteiner... STILL NO! Another pin attempt, no dice, whip reversed, Cabana stumbles on an up-and-over and Jericho is ready...
Chris Jericho wins by pinfall with the Judas Effect.
Post-match, Jericho gets on the mic and tells everyone in the crowd to shut their ass and address him with respect.
He says we just saw what happened to Colt Cabana, and that’s what’s going to happen to “Iron” Mike Tyson, that piece of shit. He can taste Colt’s blood on his fist, and he wants to taste Tyson’s blood when he shoves his head right up his stupid ass. That’s why he’s not waiting for next week, next PPV, next Christmas, he wants Tyson right here, right now!
He wants the baddest man on the planet, right here, right now!
Enter Orange Cassidy.
(Well, he’s not wrong.)
He gets in the ring and puts Jericho’s hands in his belt before putting his own hands in his pockets. Hager attacks, Cassidy evades and goes to Best Friends in the crowd, who pull him over the barricade. Santana and Ortiz join Hager and Jericho in the ring and Best Friends walk off.
And we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get a recap of the show thus far.
A Dr. Britt Baker, DMD road to recovery video package follows, showing her working out in the wheelchair.
“Big Swole” Aerial Monroe vs. Nyla Rose
Monroe with the go-behind, waistlock, shift to a side headlock, shot off, duck the lariat, back to the side headlock! Overhead elbows, Nyla trying to break her grip but Big Swole just takes her down! Schoolboy for two, off the ropes, shoulder block but Rose shrugs it off! Another one, same result, Nyla grabs a handful of hair, off the ropes... AERIEAL GETS A COBRA TWIST OUT OF IT!
Elbow to the ribs, block the hip toss for the escape, jockeying for position and finally Rose gets the hip toss! Charging in, low bridge puts Nyla on the floor and Monroe pops to the apron! Penalty Kick countered into a trip on the ropes! Ramming her back-first into the apron, throwing her back inside, the Native Beast jawing with Billy Gunn at ringside to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Rose scoops her up for a backbreaker and holds on! Big splash, Monroe gets the knees up! To her feet, throwing right hands, big right cross, roundhouse kick into a headbutt! Running uppercut, back body drop to the apron but she comes right back with the springboard Ace Crusher... SO CLOSE!
Elbows into the corner, Nyla nails her with a backhand, back and forth, Swole with a pump kick for a tight two! To the apron and back in but Rose hosses her up, inverted suplex attempt, float over, chop block from Big Swole! Off the ropes, axe kick to the back of the head, off the ropes... NYLA WITH A SPEAR!
Drawing her up for the Beast Bomb, reversed, sunset flip... NOT ENOUGH! Roundhouse kick connects, waistlock, Dirty Dancing countered...
Nyla Rose wins by pinfall with the Beast Bomb.
Big Swole is interviewed after the match.
She says those two months off recentered her, and the fans are behind her.
She’s interruppted by Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, wheeling her whole dais assembly into the barricade and jawing at her! Monroe gets a chair but Baker runs away.
Darby Allin is interviewed in a trainer’s office earlier today.
He’s not cleared to wrestle, and he says his life has become a joke, but he wants Cage to know he’s gonna get the last laugh.
Back from commercial, we get a sit-down interview with FTR.
Asked what FTR stands for, and they say it’s a way of life, anything they want it to be— Fear the Revolution, Follow the Rules, whatever they want, and right now it’s For the Revolution. Asked tag teams they’d like to face, Butcher and the Blade come up, Private Party, Santana and Ortiz, Lucha Brothers, and tag champs Omega and Page are their ultimate goal.
Asked about leaving the Young Bucks out, they say it’s the dream match everybody’s waiting for, but it’s not a dream match for them. They’ve had to sit back and listen to everyone sing the praises of the Young Bucks for years, and they don’t want to have the best match in history with them, they want to punch them in the mouth and beat them in three seconds.
They didn’t attack them because when they DO find out which team was better, they want it to be a fair fight with all four men at 100%, so there’s no excuses and everybody has to come apologize for thinking they’re not the best.
Tony Schiavone gets up to leave and says he thought FTR was Fuck the Revival, which gets all censored.
Butcher and the Blade make their way down the steps to the interview area and a bunch of dudes swarm to kep them apart. FTR suggest settling it in the ring next week and throw a drink in their faces before leaving.
Commentary hypes up next week’s show.
Colt Cabana is interviewed about his match tonight. He says he’s shown he can hang with the big boys but the big victories are out of his grasp.
Brodie Lee rolls up to tell him we don’t grow without losses, and it’s what you do, how you respond after you lose, and he can help. His pal gives Cabana a bottle of water.
He leaves and Colt says he doesn’t want to be a part of that but drinks their water nonetheless.
Jurassic Express make their entrances and we go to break.
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry (AEW TNT Championship)
Circling, Rhodes looking to shoot low and rassle, waistlock, into the takedown and the front chancery but Perry gets the ropes! Circling, collar and elbow, side headlock, into the takeover, Cody still well in control but Jack counters to a pin attempt. Posting to his feet, body blow, shot off, shoulder block, drop down, leapfrog, snap off a Frankensteiner, schoolboy, only two!
Charging in, duck the lariat, Jungle Boy throwin chops and Rhodes returning punches and chops. Whip reversed, slide low, roll through... CODY GETS THE SNAP SCOOP POWERSLAM FOR TWO! Slingshot stomp to the ankle, pressing the attack, kicks to the leg, spinning toehold, figure four leglock applied!
Reaching, desperate, Perry gets the ropes! Taking a breather on the apron, getting to his feet, Rhodes comes in for Beautiful Disaster but he ducks it and snaps off a springboard tornado DDT... NO GOOD! Cody rolls to the floor, Jungle Boy meets him with a suicide dive! Back in for a second, Rhodes catches him and throws him into Billy Gunn to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Rhodes is in control and follows out after Perry on the floor. Headbutt, he goes for a second and Jack sidesteps it, leaving Cody to headbutt the concrete retaining wall! Jungle Boy and MJF jawing at ringside, Friedman wants to go now and offers up his cheek. Cut back to Rhodes and he’s busted open from the headbutt to the wall!
Back inside, staggering into the corner, referee Bryce Remsburg wants to check it out but Cody waves him off! Perry rushes in and hammers the open wound with punches! Rhodes with a hip toss, Jack fires off a dropkick, stereo inside cradles, no dice! O’Connor roll, not enough, Cody snaps off a pump kick but is slow to cover!
Drawing him up, into the ropes, Jungle Boy explodes with a lariat but can’t put Rhodes away! Headed up top, Rhodes cuts him off with a dropkick, jockeying for position... DELAYED VERTICAL SUPERPLEX! JACK PERRY KICKS OUT! Leg pick, Perry kicks him off, Cody up top, Jungle Boy climbs to meet him. Jockeying for position... BOTH MEN FALL OFF THE TOP AND THROUGH THE TABLE!
Remsburg, Arn Anderson, and the ringside medic checking on both men, Rhodes is the first to his feet and he pulls Perry up and throws him back in the ring. Following after him, shoulder thrust from the apron, slingshot, sunset flip countered to a victory roll for two! Cody’s just a little faster...
Cody Rhodes wins by pinfall with Cross Rhodes to retain the AEW TNT Championship.
Post-match, a bloody Rhodes helps Perry to his feet.
They hug, Jack raises Cody’s hand, fireworks go off.
That’s the show, folks.
