NXT tonight kicked off with a tag team title match between the champs Imperium (Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) and the challengers Breezango.
The obvious stake was the gold, but there was more to it. Despite years in WWE/NXT, neither Fandango nor Tyler Breeze have held any title in NXT nor WWE. No tag titles on the main roster, no mid card title on any brand. So tonight was a chance for that to change.
The match kicked off with some typical Breezango silliness, with the challengers spoofing their opponent’s entrance, calling themselves Fabio and Marsupial. Fandango even wore a blonde wig like the real Fabio.

That silliness fired up Emporium Imperium, who came out aggressive against the challengers. But Breeze and Dango weathered that storm.
As the match wore on, Malcolm Biven’s Indus Sher showed up to possibly attack Tyler Breeze who was outside of the ring. However, before they could make an impact, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch ran out to attack Sher.

It was still not good news for the challengers. Breeze was knocked into the melee. In the confusion, Fandango lost who was the legal man. He tried to pin Fabian Aichner but took a DDT from Marcel Barthel to be pinned for the loss.
So as of today, Tyler Breeze & Fandango still haven’t won any gold in WWE/NXT. However, given how chaotic that finish was, they’re likely to be around the title picture for longer to rectify that.
