Cody Rhodes defends the TNT championship every single week on Dynamite. He teased this week’s (June 17) opponent as an independent star from Texas; that man turned out to be former NWA television champion, Ricky Starks.
Here’s the video that aired introducing him to the AEW audience.

This week’s match wasn’t as hot as either of Cody’s previous defenses against Jungle Boy or Marq Quen. But those matches were in the main event and this one was not, so that’s to be expected. And sometimes you have to remind the world that you can beat your opponent with one Cross Rhodes, rather than two or three. That’s exactly what Cody did.
There was no post-match angle involving with Cody’s upcoming opponent at Fyter Fest on July 1 or July 8, Jake Hager.
What did you think of Ricky Starks as this week’s opponent for Cody?
