I have a problem that I cannot explain. I have no reason why it should have been so plain. Have no questions but I sure have excuse, I lack the reason why I should be so confused, but I’m here to liveblog this pro wrestling show anyway, folks.

The show opens with commentary welcoming us to the show.

“Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega (c) vs. Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall) (AEW World Tag Team Championship)

Omega and Rhodes to start, collar and elbow, Dustin with a side headlock, shot off, drop down, shove off, Kenny with a chop. Electric chair, Rhodes shrugs him off, up and over, Frankensteiner puts Dustin into the corner, Rhodes with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors! Tags made, Page with heavy chops, off the ropes, he runs into a dropkick!

Champions with an advantage, but a suplex neckbreaker gets QT some breathing room and the tag. Tables turned, Dustin gets control on Kenny and they work him over. We see Dr. Britt Baker, DMD passing Tony Schiavone messages on a clothesline as Marshall gets a nearfall. Whip reversed, back body drop, Omega gets a back elbow and a Kotaro Krusher on Rhodes!

The path is clear, reaching, crawling... TAGS MADE! Hangman comes in with forearms, a wicked lariat out of the corner, clear the apron with a springboard lariat! Duck a lariat, scoop lift into a fallaway slam and he kips up after! Slingshot plancha takes Dustin out, tag back to Omega. Fireman’s carry, Finlay Roll into the springboard moonsault... NOPE!

Page back in, Marshall with right hands, another round of tags, the match breaks down, challengers dump the champs to the floor, Dustin with a cannonball senton off the apron and QT takes flight... SPACE FLYING TIGER DROP! Back inside, corkscrew senton off the top, calling for the Diamond Cutter but it’s blocked, Dragon suplex!

Rhodes with the flip piledriver, Page takes him out with a lariat, QT hits the Diamond Cutter out of an inverted facelock and all four men are down and out as Allie comes to the stage to cheer Marshall on! Nobody home on the dive, champs line QT up, rolling elbow into a German suplex, Rhodes breaks the pin up!

V-Trigger to the back of the head, plancha takes Dustin out, cover... NO DICE! Setting him up...

“Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega win by pinfall with Last Call on QT Marshall to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

We’re promised Anna Jay in action, after the break.

Back from commercial we get an Anna Jay video package.

Abadon vs. Anna Jay

Abadon with a double leg into windmill punches, Jay turns her around in the corner with overhand strikes of her own, but Abadon shrugs them off and drops her with a lariat! Slingshotting her off the ropes...

Abadon wins by pinfall with a headscissors driver.

Post-match, Mr. Brodie Lee comes to ringside with all of the important members of the Dark Order.

Evil Uno offers Colt Cabana a manila envelope, and he pulls what is presumably a contract out of it while the rest of the lads help Anna Jay up and walk her to the back as we go to break.

Billy Gunn vs. Maxwell Jacob Friedman

Gunn using his strength and size but Friedman ducks and dodges to avoid the brunt of it until a big boot puts him down! MJF’s had enough and he walks off to the back. Billy Gunn follows as referee Aubrey Edwards begins counting, and he comes back out of the entrance tunnel with Max on one shoulder. Dropping him in the ring, he struts and poses.

Billy turns him around, kick to the midsection, duck the Fameasser, chop blocks and knee drops to the knee to cut him off from it! And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Friedman’s still in control and working the leg over, slingshot seated sentons against the ropes, but Gunn slips away from the last one and comes back with punches! Tilt-a-whirl slam, hopping on his good leg, kick to the midseciton, off the ropes but MJF stumbles away. Corner knee misses, Max grabs a rolling inverted figure four leglock!

Ropes for leveraged, referee Aubrey Edwards catches him and orders the break! Jawing with the ref, Billy gets back to his feet, Max goes for a Fameasser but Gunn blocks it! Fameasser! Cover... WARDLOW IS ON THE APRON, NO COUNT! Mr. Mayhem throws the diamond ring to his pal, Billy heads to the floor to take him out but MJF is ready when he comes back in and hits him with the loaded right hand...

Maxwell Jacob Friedman wins by pinfall with a loaded punch.

Post-match, MJF and Wardlow get into it with Jurassic Express and the roster swarm from the crowd to break it up!

Le Sex Gods are interviewed backstage.

Chris Jericho says they juiced Orange Cassidy last week because everybody loves him and he’s so cool, but he had the audacity to interrupt the Inner Circle twice. They’re gonna go on to beat Best Friends and become #1 contenders, because they’re better than best friends, they’re blood brothers, and blood is thicker than orange juice.

Dr. Britt Baker, DMD is interviewed at ringside.

Tony Schiavone announces that Penelope Ford will challenge Hikaru Shida at Fyter Fest, and Britt takes that news poorly and refuses the interview as a result of it. Furthermore, she tells Tony they’re on a friendship time-out, and she demands Rebel drive her off.

One problem it’s not Rebel at the wheel of her golf cart— it’s “Big Swole” Aerial Monroe! Big Swole drives her off to god knows where.

Cody Rhodes makes his entrance, his TNT Championship open challenge will be up next, after the break.

Back from commercial, Cody Rhodes gets on the mic.

He says it’s time for the open challenge, and he can’t help but notice that the air is getting a little thin and it’s a bit lonely at the moment. No Dustin, no Matt, no Nick, no Kenny, no Hangman... is he even in the Elite anymore? He’d hope so. Is the Nightmare Family even a family? Kinda makes you wonder.

But without further ado, he’s not coming out here to talk, and he passes the mic to Arn Anderson. Arn says with age comes maturity, and wisdom comes with maturity, and you have to listen to the voice of reason sometimes. They both know that he can beat Jake Hager, but timing is everything, and the timing just isn’t right.

He wants to move on and move past it and today he has an opponent that’s more than qualified... Ricky Starks! He gets an introductory video package and the match is on!

Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Ricky Starks (AEW TNT Championship)

Test of strength, quick break, Rhodes with a go-behind to a hammerlock, reversed, backhammer, shot off, shoulder block. Starks kips up, kick to the midsection, Cody with the drop down slap but Ricky hauls off with a slap of his own! Turning him around in the corner, trading strikes, off the ropes and Rhodes nails him with a dropkick!

Leg picks, kick to the midsection sends Starks to the floor and Cody follows it up with a suicide dive! Back inside, whip reversed, Ricky just slings Rhodes rib-first into the ropes! Leg drop on the apron, no dice on the cover. Choking Cody over the ropes, off the ropes, stop short, tornado DDT... NOPE!

Overhead elbow, trading strikes, Starks with a rear chinlock applied and an overhead elbow when Rhodes starts prying his grip open. Whip into the corner, stop short, malfunction at the junction leads to an effective double headbutt! Arm wringer, Ricky steps up but Cody throws him off. Boot, snap scoop powerslam, thinking Cross Rhodes but Starks slips away!

Gourdbuster connects, cover for two, looking for a sprinboard but Ricky cuts him off. Jockeying for position in the turnbuckles, Starks gets the superplex! Cactus crossbody in the aftermath, both men wrecked on the floor as referee Bryce Remsburg begins his ten count. Rhodes in first, trading punches, Ricky with a tight nearfall!

Underhooks, drawing him up, Cody counters with a leg pick into a European clutch, trading nearfalls, catch a lariat... CROSS RHODES SPIKES STARKS ON HIS HEAD! IT’S OVER!

Cody Rhodes wins by pinfall with a spike Cross Rhodes to retain the AEW TNT Championship.

And so we go to break.

Superbad Squad (Jimmy Havoc & Kip Sabian) vs. Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)

Havoc and Matt to start, Jimmy immediately using his injured ribs to cut him off and work him over. Blind tag from Nick, slingshot leg drop but Sabian made a blind tag of his own! The Bucks double-team him, they send the heels to the floor and then drop ‘em with stereo planchas as Butcher and the Blade jaw at them from the crowd!

Both teams talking strategy in their corners, Kip runs into a wicked double chop and immediately tags out! Jimmy wants some, whip to the corner, boots up, caught by a neckbreaker / senton atomico combo and the Bucks take Sabian out! Rolling neckbreaker / backbreaker combo! Butcher and the Blade jump the rail to continue jawing at the Bucks, they get up on the apron and Havoc takes advantage of the distraction to blast Matt with a wet floor sign!

Knee to the back, Superbad Squad work Matt over in their corner and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Matt is still in trouble as he gets dumped to the stage. FTR come down to square up with Butcher and the Blade, and Sabian nails Jackson with a Penalty Kick! Repeated dropkicks, catapult into an eyepoke... NOPE! Choking Matt with his own hair, but he gets away and gets a hanging sleeper hold out of the turnbuckles!

Kip springboard, Jackson countered... AVALANCHE POWERBOMB! Tag to Nick, coming in hot with roundhouse kicks, corner knee sets up a bulldog / clothesline combo and he’s fired up! Slingshot X-Factor and a springboard plancha take Havoc out, Sharpshooter on Sabian, Jimmy tries to come in with a mallet and Penelope Ford takes advantage to hit Nick with the wet floor sign! Tag made, Jimmy with Sing the Sorrow... MATT BREAKS IT UP!

Tag to Kip, wheelbarrow-assisted tornado DDT... NOT ENOUGH! Kip bloodied at the ear, nobody home for the diving stomp and he runs right into a superkick! Matt tags in, rolling northern lights suplexes, catapult into a knee strike, double stomp / double knee backbreaker combo! Risky Business... NO GOOD!

Thinking about the Meltzer Driver, FTR and Butcher and the Blade squaring off is a distraction, Havoc with a schoolboy and a handful of tights, no dice! Tag made, Kip off the top with a double stomp... NICK BREAKS IT UP! Double northern lights suplex, double superkick, they make Sabian hit a Tombstone piledriver on Havoc...

Young Bucks win by pinfall.

Post-match, Butcher and the Blade attack the Young Bucks and FTR attack Superbad Squad! FTR wailing on Butcher... GOODNIGHT EXPRESS! Matt has the Blade up, Harwood has Havoc... STEREO SPIKE PILEDRIVERS!

We get a promo from Taz and Brian Cage.

Taz talks about the Jon Moxley promo from last week and says if he wants to call himself a miserable son of a bitch, he was calling himself that a decade ago and he’s gonna teach him something about misery. Cage tells Moxley he brought it on himself, and asks the question, “Who betta?”

Nobody is our answer, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a Jon Moxley promo wherein he calls Cage out.

Commentary hypes up Brodie Lee & Colt Cabana vs. Joey Janela & Sonny Cage for next week, as well as Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus in a lumberjack match and more stuff besides.

Rebel is running outside the arena and she finds Dr. Britt Baker, DMD trapped in a dumpster. Britt complains about being in the dumpster for five hours and fires Rebel when she points out it’s only been an hour. She rehires her when she realizes she can’t get out of the dumpster without her help, and when Rebel says she was taking a bathroom break earlier, she points out it’s a 24/7 job, no bathroom breaks.

Baker threatens Big Swole with a lawsuit and fines and promises to get her if it’s the last thing she does, and then she goes back to screaming at Rebel to get her out of the dumpster.

Le Sex Gods make their entrance and we go to break.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent?) vs. Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara) (AEW Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Match)

Best Friends going hard out the gates, brawling, Trent? and Guevara more or less the legal men as Taylor chokes Jericho out with his t-shirt. Right hands, smashing him into the timekeeper’s table, jamming a water bottle into Y2J’s eye socket, Beretta with a spear to Sammy! Standing shiranui from Taylor, so I guess he’s actually legal, because it gets a nearfall.

Guevara passes him into the corner, tag made, Chuck puts boots to Jericho! Y2J with the triangle dropkick, choking him over the ropes, Sammy tags in, off the ropes, big dropkick into a kip-up! Reverse chinlock, another tag as Le Sex Gods continue working Best Friends over. Chris with a knee drop to the face, Taylor back to his feet and fighting back but he gets laid out by a dropkick after running the ropes.

Jericho stepping on his hand to block the tag, back elbow, Lionsault... NOBODY HOME! Tags made, Trent? absolutely destroys Guevara with a chop to the throat! More chops, off the ropes, Sammy hits a brutal pump kick but Beretta returns a German suplex! Dropkick through the ropes to Y2J, a plancha to follow it up... BUT FLOYD CATCHES HIM IN THE MIDSECTION TO SEND US TO BREAK!

Back from commercial, Le Sex Gods are in control with Jericho firing off knee lifts to Beretta. Front suplex into the ropes, double whip, double shoulder blocks, Guevara with a bad spinarooni and he and Jericho pose for the camera. Charging in, Trent? with a double stomp out of the corner, the path is clear... Taylor in hot, duck the lariat, Falcon Arrow... NOPE!

Diving moonsault, nobody home but Chuck lands on his feet and hits a Liger Bomb... JERICHO BREAKS IT UP! Sole food / half nelson suplex combo, but Jericho blocks the hug! Whip reversed, Taylor with a knee out of the corner and Trent hits the Busaiku Knee! Walls of Jericho on Beretta, Guevara takes Chuck out with a tope con giro!

Trent crawling, desperate for the ropes and he gets them! Y2J celebrates like he won but referee Bryce Remsburg points it out and Beretta hits a falling lariat! Sammy with a face kick, headed up top, Trent crotches him on the turnbuckles! Back and forth, the match breaks down, Jericho rakes the eyes, Guevara with a handful of tights... NOT ENOUGH!

Taylor throwing Jericho around on the floor, Y2J throws him over the barricade and Guevara uses Floyd while Remsburg is distracted! Sammy off the top... SHOOTING STAR PRESS CAN’T PUT TRENT AWAY! Argentine backbreaker rack, Trent slips out...

Best Friends win by pinfall with a Dudebuster from Trent on Sammy Guevara to retain the #1 contendership to the AEW Tag Team Championship.

Post-match, a camera man sets his camera down on the stage and saunters into the ring... IT’S ORANGE CASSIDY! He takes his shirt off and squares up with Jericho! DOUBLE LEG INTO PUNCHES, ORANGE IS ALL BUSINESS! Raining violence down on him... SUPERMAN PUNCH!

Orange gets his denim jacket and aviators and gives us a thumbs up as Best Friends come in for a hug.

That’s the show, folks.
