AEW Dynamite Preview (June 10, 2020): FTR Makes Their AEW In-Ring Debut

AEW.com

Tonight (June 10) All Elite Wrestling comes our way live from a closed set in Jacksonville, Florida. Last week, Hangman Page & Kenny Omega reminded everyone why they are the tag team champions, Spears got a fancy new glove, Colt Cabana lost again, Big Swole almost got run over and Cody kept his championship.

Advertised for tonight:

  • FTR makes their in-ring debut against The Butcher & The Blade
  • TNT champion Cody defends against Marq Quen
  • Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander versus Nyla Rose & Penelope Ford
  • Inner Circle’s Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz versus Best Friends & Orange Cassidy
  • Colt Cabana versus Sammy Guevara
  • Chris Jericho returns to commentary

Here are five questions about AEW tonight:

1) Will FTR live up to the hype?

FTR in AEW has been the dream seemingly since the moment that AEW was announced. Between the playful banter on social media and the disgraceful way they were booked in WWE many fans have been dreaming of the day when FTR would finally be able to let loose and wrestle! Now that time has finally come, will it live up to the years of hype?

During their interview last week FTR talked about how they were ready to teach the AEW roster just what tag team wrestling is all about. Tonight, in their debut match, they face the Butcher & the Blade - a team that is not known for their high flying abilities and is, frankly, more inline with the FTR philosophy. Just what will FTR be teaching this duo? What exactly does FTR wrestling look like outside of WWE influence? And more importantly, will The Young Bucks be watching?

2) Can Colt Cabana break his losing streak?

Jovial Colt Cabana is having a run of bad luck. He knows he’s good. We know he’s good. And yet...he just can’t seem to win when it matters. Tonight he’ll be taking on Sammy Guevara and while there are no championships or title opportunities on the line this feels like another make it or break it moment for Cabana.

Guevara is not a wrestler to be taken lightly. He has the voice of an angel, the face of a god, and is one of the best wrestlers on the roster. If Cabana can beat him tonight he’ll get a much needed confidence booster. If not... it might be time to start looking else where for assistance. Perhaps a certain Exalted One could help?

3) Could the results of the women’s tag clarify Shida’s next challenger?

Fyter Fest is still several weeks away, but it would be nice if AEW figured out Shida’s challenger before the week of the show. Statlander, Nyla and Penelope are all currently ranked in the top five and would all make interesting choices for challengers. A re-match and renewed opportunity for Nyla, a chance to finally compete for the championship after being named number one contender months ago for Statlander or a chance for Penelope to prove that she is more than a pretty face.

There are many options! Just pick one!

4) Will Orange Cassidy’s laissez faire attitude be enough to defeat the Inner Circle?

The Inner Circle have nothing better to do than to pick on Orange Cassidy while they wait around for Mike Tyson and his crew to do...whatever it is that they are going to do. After their big loss to The Elite at Double or Nothing The Inner Circle have lacked direction. Foolish of them, however, to try and find some facing Orange Cassidy. The Best Friends have been killing it on Dynamite for weeks - both in tag and singles competition - and Orange Cassidy is unpredictable at best and bemusing at worst. They may think this match up will be an easy notch in the win column for them, but I think they are going to be sourly disappointed.

5) What does the Role Model have to say?

She may be injured but Britt Baker takes her duties as the leader of the women’s division seriously. Instead of taking a couple of weeks off to heel, Britt has courageously continued to lead her fellow wrestlers from the sidelines. All the while continuing to work in her dental practice and trying to solved the Aubrey Edwards conspiracy. She really does do it all.

Unfortunately for her, not everyone is appreciative of her leadership. Last week, Big Swole and Britt got into a violent disagreement (including a renegade car) and you just know that Britt is going to have something to say about it tonight!

Tune into AEW on TNT at 8 ET tonight to see if we get any answers to these questions!
