Earlier today (May 19), TMZ provided an update on search & rescue operations underway for Shad Gaspard. The site was the first outlet to report on the former WWE Superstar’s disappearance after being caught in a rip current while swimming with his son at a Southern California beach on Sunday afternoon. The most recent news they shared was not optimistic.
The United States Coast Guard told TMZ that while the case won’t officially be closed until the missing person is found, their search for Gaspard has officially been suspended. One boat continued to look for him, “but it’s become clear the chances of finding the ex-WWE star are fading fast.”
A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department told Fox News their search is ongoing.
Gaspard’s wife Siliana posted the following to Instagram, thanking first responders for their efforts and asking fans to remain positive.
As Siliana mentions, Shad’s son was rescued. Witnesses told TMZ he directed lifeguards to help Aryeh first, something MVP also discussed in the tribute he posted to his friend earlier today.
