There’s been an outpouring of support and concern from all across the wrestling community since reports of Shad Gaspard’s disappearance came out earlier today (May 18).

This evening, several wrestlers - including Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, Jay Lethal, and Shane Helms - tweeted a brief statement at the request of Gaspard’s family:

“Shad’s family appreciates all the love, support, and concern through this horrible ordeal. At this time they are not ready to make any public or official statements to any media outlet And ask all to respect their wishes.”

Gaspard has been missing since Sunday afternoon when he and his ten year old son were in a group of swimmers caught in a rip current on Venice Beach in Southern California. Lifeguards were able to rescue Shad’s son at his behest; a search mission for the former WWE Superstar has thus far been unsuccessful.

We’ll be honoring Gaspard’s family’s request, while hoping for the best. We’ll share any official word or statement from Shad’s people as soon as anything is issued.
