AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR APRIL 29
The light is fading, everything dissolves in blue as we become one with what surrounds. Crawl back into the womb, but it’s getting colder. There’s no comfort in this place, even now that we’re still so far away. From this point on there’s only one direction: Liveblog this here pro wrestling show, folks.
The show opens into a video package for Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin.
Chris Jericho and Tony Schiavone welcome us to the show on commentary.
Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin (AEW TNT Championship Tournament Semifinal Match)
Squaring up, Allin off the ropes, shoulder block comes up empty. Collar and elbow, Rhodes with a side headlock, shot off, shoulder block, cover for one. Cody with a go-behind, Darby reverses to a front chancery but Rhodes backs him into the corner, so he shifts to a hammerlock. Roll through, hold onto the wristlock, La Casita, only two.
Looking for quick covers, Rhodes bridges out but his knee gives out and Darby hits a chop block, blood in the water! Action to the floor, Cody throws him into the barricade, smashes his face into the apron, staring Shawn Spears down in the crowd. Back suplex attempt, Allin lands on his feet and charges in, Rhodes passes him into the barricade but Brandi Rhodes is in the way and eats it!
Pump kick takes Darby out but a distraught Cody checks on his wife and fails to capitalize! Back inside, putting boots to him, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Rhodes is in control and drops Allin with a hard right hand. Dragging him into the center of the ring, drawing him up, delayed vertical dropped into a gourdbuster! Leg pick, jackknife pin, only two! Knee lifts, whip across, knee to the midsection, Cody follows it up with a double knee bow-and-arrow!
Putting boots to Darby after he gets out of the hold, suplexing him belly-first into the ropes and covering him for another two count. Putting boots to him, half-crab applied, going for a suplex but Allin counters with a knee and chop blocks Rhodes in the bad knee! Cody with a hard right hand, staggered but still in charge, arm drag connects.
Allin with quick strikes, Yoshi Tonic... NOPE! Leg pick into a grapevined ankle lock, wrenching it in! Rhodes struggles... AND MAKES THE ROPES! Darby charges in and eats a back elbow, Cody up top, Allin cuts him off and hangs him in the Tree of Woe. Off the ropes, backsplash, shoulder kneebar transitioned into a bridging deathlock!
Posting Rhodes’ knee into the mat, he bails to the floor for a breather. Back inside, Darby resumes control and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Rhodes gets a desperation lariat off and both men are down and out! Slapping life back into his knee as referee Aubrey Edwards issues the standing ten-count, both guys get up and Cody hits the drop down slap. Release suplex follows, off the ropes, Beautiful Disaster! The weight belt comes off, he decides better than to use it as a weapon.
Allin whips him in, comes out of the corner, gets caught in a small package for two! DARBY HITS CROSS RHODES BUT CAN’T PUT THE GRANDSON OF A PLUMBER DOWN! Figure four leglock applied, Cody in such pain that he nearly gets counted for a pin! Brandi Rhodes makes her way back to ringside, clearly hurting, bottle of water in hand, as Rhodes makes the ropes to force the break.
Brandi brings her husband the water, he takes a sip but Darby grabs it and smashes it into his face! Springboard, Cody catches him and wipes him out with a ripcord lariat! Wristlock still applied, Allin counters into Diamond Dust! Quebrada, Rhodes counters... DARBY KICKS OUT OF CROSS RHODES! Dragging Allin in place, slapping at the bad knee, Cody heads up top... COFFIN DROP BUT THE KNEES ARE UP!
Darby up top... COFFIN DROP BUT RHODES ROLLS THROUGH INTO A CRUCIFIX! IT’S OVER!
Cody Rhodes wins by pinfall, reversing a Coffin Drop into a crucifix pin.

Back from commercial we get another slice of Scorpio Sky documentary, talking primarily about how he got involved with Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman appears to give us another update on his status. He talks about how hard he’s been working and how he’s been able to rehab his hangnail and his doctor has said he made the most miraculous turnaround he’s ever seen, and in fact he’s now got the strongest nail in the world.
He was excited to be back on Dynamite, but when he was getting TV-ready the unthinkable happened— he nicked his neck shaving. He reveals that he is wearing a neck brace for his injury. He was looking forward to hopping on a germ-infested plane, to wrestle in front of six or seven of his peers, in our hour of need, because he cares about us so much.
But he’ll be back, not just for us, but for him, because he’s the voice brave enough to cry out, the storm thundering across the horizon, the candle that is lit in a dark room, the only hope this company has left.
Musa vs. Wardlow
Musa charges in and Wardlow destroys him with a chokeslam! Toying with him, scoop, Musa slips out and slaps him hard across the face! Handspring heel kick, Wardlow catches him on the charge and rams him into the corner! Goozle in the turnbuckles... WARDLOW DROPS HIM INTO A HARD KNEE! Fireman’s carry...
Wardlow wins by pinfall with the F-10.
Commentary hypes up the rest of tonight’s show and we go to break.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent?) vs. Jimmy Havoc & Kip Sabian (No Disqualification, No Countout Match)
Havoc and Sabian attacking at the jump and we got a brawl! Action to the floor, Trent wipes them out with a tope con giro! JIMMY HAVOC DESTROYS ORANGE CASSIDY WITH A CHAIR! Chaos ahoy, Jimmy suplexes Taylor into a pile of chairs! Beretta saves Chuck from a Con-Chair-To with a spear! Kip hits a tope con giro on Trent!
Back inside, putting boots to Beretta, Havoc in the ring with a short ladder, throwing it at Trent before setting it up across the corner and catapulting him into it! Biting his ear, the Englishmen working Beretta over, but eventually Chuck recovers and makes the save! Kneeing a chair into Havoc’s face, Best Friends throw chairs at him and hug over his kneeling body!
Sole Food / German suplex combo on Kip, cover almost gets the win! Taylor and Sabian trading strikes, Kip throws him head-first into a chair wedged in the corner! Tornado DDT from Trent, cutting Jimmy off when he comes in the ring with a chair... SLIDING KNEE WITH THE CHAIR BUT HAVOC BREAKS IT UP! Chairshow to Jimmy, setting Sabian on top of the ladder in the corner, headed up top, Havoc cuts him off!
Kip out of the way, Jimmy climbs to join Beretta, jockeying for position... HAVOC TRIPS HIM INTO THE LADDER BACK-FIRST! Laying two chairs on their side... MICHINOKU DRIVER INTO THE SIDES OF THE CHAIRS! SABIAN OFF THE TOP, DOUBLE STOMP... CHUCK MAKES THE SAVE! STANDING FALCON ARROW PUTS HAVOC INTO A CHAIR! PILEDRIVER... PENELOPE FORD PULLS TAYLOR OUT OF THE RING TO SAVE KIP!
Jimmy back body drops Chuck into the ladder! Fireman’s carry... ORANGE CASSIDY IS BACK, CHAIR IN HAND! HE THROWS THE CHAIR AT HAVOC FOR HIS REVENGE! SABIAN HOLDS HIM IN PLACE BUT ORANGE SIDESTEPS AND FORD KICKS HER GUY IN THE FACE! Cassidy sidesteps her dive and puts her into Kip! Headed up top, Jimmy climbs up with him... HE DIVES ON KIP AND PENELOPE!

Black taking it to Spears in the early going, outclassing him in mat grappling but an elbow to the face gets Shawn back into it. He dominates the match from there...

Back from commercial, Taz breaks Lance Archer’s Blackout down.
We get a video package hyping up Marko Stunt’s match against Brodie Lee, interspersing recap clips with an interview about how he can take a lot more than he’s been given.
Brodie Lee vs. Marko Stunt
Stunt charging in, Lee shoving him back, Marko shifts it up to a right hand, off the ropes, duck a lariat but the boot drops him! Brodie draws him up, into the corner for heavy chops, clawing at his face, following it up with more chops. Stepping on his neck, putting Stunt into the corner and bieling him across the damn ring!
To the floor, Marko dives on him but Lee catches him and sets him down for a superkick! Back in to break the count, posing, but Stunt breaks the count! Off the ropes, Croyt’s Wrath but Marko lands on his feet! Off the second... BRODIE COUNTERS INTO TRUCK STOP! Hoisting him up...
Brodie Lee wins by pinfall with the Brodie Bomb.
We get a video package statement from Jon Moxley about how he can’t wait until he can be back in front of a crowd again but he wants to be positive and thankful for everything from his wife to steel chairs, and since AEW is live next week, he’s gonna toss the title and some Metallica CDs into the truck and he’s gonna be at the show.
He knows he’s got a target on his back, but please remember, when you step up to the world champ, you do so at your own risk. But also, don’t forget to call your grandmother!

Back from commercial, commentary informs us that MJF returns next week, plus Mox will be in action against Frankie Kazarian, and Le Sex Gods of Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara will be in a street fight against Kenny Omega and Matt Hardy.
Dustin Rhodes vs. Lance Archer (AEW TNT Championship Semifinal Match)
Archer toying with Rhodes, light on his feet, going for dirty breaks in the corner but Dustin lights him up with palm strikes! Off the ropes, shoulder block comes up empty, Rhodes ducks a lariat but gets knocked to the floor by an equal and opposite shoulder block! Taking a breather with Brandi at ringside, cannonball off the apron!
Back inside, waiting Lance out, paintbrushing him with right hands when he returns. Whip reversed, snap scoop powerslam blocked, off the ropes... POUNCE! Back to the floor, chair in hand but Rhodes cuts him off and grabs the chair... ARCHER BOOTS HIM IN THE FACE! Back inside, Lance well in control, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Rhodes is busted open and wearing the crimson mask as Archer shoves his face in the camera! Fired up, right hands from Dustin, back to his feet, off the ropes for a right hand but Lance drops him with a falling lariat! Right hands to the open wound, Rhodes falls to the floor! Archer follows with boots and right hands, throwing him into the post!
Trading strikes, Dustin down and out but Lance decides to break the count to keep the pressure up. Back inside, mugging for the camera on the apron and Rhodes clobbers him! Front chancery, snap suplex, clawing at Dustin’s face but he manages to fire up and lay strikes into him on the corner. Setting up to shatter his dreams... SHATTERED DREAMS!
Snapmare, off the ropes, Lance rolls away from a fist drop and mounts the veteran for punches! Wrist clutch, Rhodes just so much dead weight, barely getting to his feet and Archer puts him back down with a short-arm lariat! Standing armbar, Lance clawing at Dustin’s face to send us to break.
Back from commercial and Archer still has the armbar applied! Rhodes to his feet, right hands, Lance is staggered, whip reversed... YOSHI TONIC! Trading right hands, Dustin with a lariat! Snap scoop powerslam connects, mounted punches in the corner, Archer tries a powerbomb but Rhodes slips out. Chokeslam denied, Cross Rhodes... LANCE ARCHER KICKS OUT AT ONE!
Chokeslam connects this time... NOT ENOUGH! Knucklelock, Lance up the turnbuckles, walking the ropes... OLD SCHOOL MOONSAULT BUT AGAIN RHODES FINDS THE ENERGY TO KICK OUT! Hoisting him up in the corner for Blackout, Rhodes slips out, right hand, Cross Rhodes blocked, chokeslam drops him... DUSTIN REVERSES INTO A CRUCIFIX FOR A TIGHT TWO!
Lance with a big boot, he rips a turnbuckle pad off and smashes Dustin’s bloody face into it! Again and again, referee Aubrey Edwards checks on him and QT Marshall is at ringside with the towel in hand but Cody shows up and stops him from throwing it in! Lance drags Dustin into the middle of the ring with the towel, EBD Claw applied, slamming his head into the mat...
Lance Archer wins by pinfall with the EBD Claw.
Post-match, the Nightmare Family swarm Dustin to check on him as Lance stares Cody down.
