The Murderhawk Monster advances in the TNT championship tournament

The first round of the TNT championship tournament continued on tonight’s (Apr. 15) episode of Dynamite, with Colt Cabana taking on Lance Archer. You can see the full tournament bracket here.

There were a couple pre-taped promos to add some intrigue to this bout. Jake “The Snake” Roberts admitted that Cabana was good, but doesn’t have nearly what it takes to put down Archer. Cabana felt disrespected by the fact that Archer is the one who is getting so much buzz for his recent AEW debut relative to Cabana’s own debut.

So how would the match play out?

Cabana gave Archer his toughest test yet in AEW, but Jake Roberts was correct, it simply wasn’t good enough. Archer was taking Cabana’s best punches and still asking for more:

It felt like a match that Archer could have ended earlier if he went full force on Colt, but he decided to toy with his prey for a while. The Murderhawk Monster obliterated Cabana with a pounce, before ending Cabana’s tournament with his impressive finisher.

Lance Archer now moves on in the tournament to face the winner of Dustin Rhodes versus Kip Sabian.

Meanwhile, it looks like Colt still looks forward to getting in the ring with big dudes like Archer, Wardlow and Jake Hager:
