After defeating Cody at their Revolution PPV in February, it looked like Maxwell Jacob Friedman would be a big player in AEW’s main event scene.
Instead, he’s worked one six-person tag match, and appeared as a “fan” during one of the empty arena shows in Jacksonville. He wasn’t among the eight people announced for their TNT Title Tournament field, and unceremoniously disappeared from the men’s singles top five.
I wish I could put my body on the line more for you guys. I truly care so much about you being entertained during your hour of need. Unfortunately something awful has happened to me and it has gradually gotten worse. I can’t comment on what the issue is at this time. https://t.co/1WoXSzPh7r— Maxwell Jacob Friedman™️ (@The_MJF) April 13, 2020
The most concerning thing is probably that MJF doesn’t seem to be playing his character here. And MJF is famously ALWAYS playing his character.
Here’s hoping either this is the set-up for more heel heat, or this “something awful” can be fixed/healed. We need to be able to resume spitting venom whenever we see Burberry on Dynamite.
