Cody Rhodes teased a cool announcement coming on the latest, “Road to Dynamite.” The payoff was indeed cool. AEW will be crowning a new champion via tournament. The name of that title is the TNT Championship.

The 8-man tournament is scheduled to begin April 8 on Dynamite. One half of the bracket will be revealed tomorrow night (Mar. 31) on Dark and the other half will be revealed Wednesday night (Apr. 1) on Dynamite. The finale is scheduled for the Double or Nothing PPV on May 23.

This is fantastic news. I’m a sucker for tournaments. The drama is already built into the concept. This will also allow Dynamite to proceed with minimal personnel (due to coronavirus concerns) since the tournament matches will most likely fill the majority of the episodes.
