AEW Rankings (Mar. 25, 2020): Jake Hager climbing toward a title shot

AEW released their latest rankings (Mar. 25, 2020). Let’s check out the movers and shakers.

Men:

AEW

The big news is the debut of Jake Hager in the rankings. He popped into #4 after winning a squash match against Joe Alonzo on Dark. Three cheers for mixing up the stagnant singles scene. It is also important to note that Jon Moxley specifically called out Hager to challenge for the World Championship. Now that Hager is ranked, AEW can book toward that match.

At the same time that AEW does something interesting for the men’s rankings, they also pull a head-scratcher. Kenny Omega dropped from #3 to #5, while Cody Rhodes moved up from #4 to #3. This makes zero sense. Omega held his spot after so many weeks of inactivity and the week AEW drops him is a week when Cody didn’t have a singles match either. There is no rationale to justify why those two were shifted in the rankings.

The funny part is that Omega has a singles match tonight on Dynamite as he defends the AAA Megacampeonato against Sammy Guevara. Cody has a singles bout against Jimmy Havoc. AEW could have held off the rankings movement until next week when we see who was more impressive.

PAC was dropped from #5. The rest is the same as last week.

Women:

AEW

No movement in the women’s rankings. Hikaru Shida cemented the top spot with a four-way win last week on Dynamite against Riho, Kris Statlander, and Penelope Ford. Shida’s record is so far ahead of all the other contenders that she should receive a title shot post haste.

Tag Team:

AEW

The Lucha Bros burst back into the rankings at #4 with their win over Best Friends last week on Dynamite. Best Friends drop one spot, and Private Party was booted from the fifth spot.

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
