AEW Rankings (Mar. 18, 2020): Penelope Ford gets no respect for beating Riho

AEW released their latest rankings (Mar. 18, 2020). Let’s check out the movers and shakers.

Men:

AEW

Cody Rhodes’ win over Ortiz on last week’s Dynamite put him back over PAC from #5 to #4. The rest of the rankings remain the same.

I like the little tug of war between Cody and PAC the last few weeks for spots 4 and 5. Both of them are busy at the moment, but, if the flip flopping continues, that is a singles match I’d like to see. The rankings would create the story.

Women:

AEW

The biggest move of the week is Riho dropping from #2 to #5, but you’d be hard-pressed to know why if you didn’t watch last night’s episode of Dark. Kris Statlander, Yuka Sakazaki and Britt Baker all moved up one spot with the drop of Riho. The rest of the rankings stays the same.

The reason for Riho’s fall is a shocking loss to Penelope Ford. Ford has gotten zero respect for her huge victory. She didn’t get ranked when it can be argued her record and quality of win over Riho is better than Baker and Sakazaki. In the rankings breakdown video (below), it is never stated that Riho lost to Ford. Sure, Ford had help from Kip Sabian for a timely distraction, but past precedent has shown that it shouldn’t matter. MJF shot up the rankings after beating Cody via Dynamite Diamond Ring punch. A win is a win. Ford should be ranked this week. No respect.

Tag Team:

AEW

Private Party popped up to #5 after Le Sex Gods lost last week to Hangman Page and Dustin Rhodes. The rest of the rankings keep still.

For a laugh, I would have loved to see Hangman and Dustin ranked #5. Hangman being ranked twice with two different teammates could have played into his breakup with the Elite storyline. What would have happened if Hangman and Dustin worked their way to #1 while Kenny Omega was out with an injury?

We’ll close with Tony Schiavone running down this week’s rankings.

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
