Tonight (March 18) All Elite Wrestling comes our way from the Daily’s Place in Jacksonville. Last week Lance Archer scouted Cody, Bea Priestly made her championship intentions known, Nick Jackson got taken to the hospital, and the Death Triangle ended the party.
Advertised for tonight:
- The Exalted One revealed
- Who gets advantage in Blood & Guts
- Lucha Bros vs. Best Friends
- Jurassic Express vs. The Butcher & The Blade
Here are five questions about AEW tonight:
1) What does AEW in a Covid-19 world look like?
To say that there is a lot going on in the world is an understatement. Many of us are working from home, hording toilet paper and generally wondering, “What is happening?” But as they say, the show must go on.
On one hand, it is really spectacular that WWE and AEW are finding ways to bring us our beloved wrestling when we are stuck in our houses with no other sports to distract us. On the other hand, boy oh boy those no crowd WWE shows were brutal.
Hopefully, AEW is a little more creative in their approach to the situation...
2) Who is the Exalted One?
You’ve heard all the rumors before. Is it going to be Christopher Daniels? Is it going to be Brodie Lee? Is it going to be Matt Hardy?
Honestly, I don’t have much to new to say about this other than OMG I AM SO EXCITED. GOD I HOPE IT IS MATT HARDY!
We’re in mechanical spider territory people. It could be amazing or horribly, horribly disappointing.
3) Will they be able to keep the Blood & Guts hype going?
Last week Dynamite ended in chaos as The Inner Circle decimated The Elite. Earlier in the program the rules to B&G were revealed to be the original submission style war game. There are a lot of things to be excited about, but can they keep us excited until July 22?
It was smart of them to reschedule the match - who wants to see a war games match with no audience? - but four months to build up one match is a lot!
Thankfully both the Inner Circle and The Elite have multiple members so there are numerous match-ups available. Plus, there is always the on going Elite break-up story line to fill time and pints.
It will be a challenge, but if any one can do it it’s Le Champion and friends.
4) Who is Nyla’s next challenger?
Britt Baker, Big Swole and Bea Priestly have all made their championship intentions known and Nyla Rose has a big ole target on her back.
Ultimately, I think Big Swole or Britt Baker will be her next PPV opponent, but in the meantime they are currently feuding with each other...and it is amazing. Britt has been killing it with the heel commentary and Big Swole has quickly turned into a crowd favorite. Hopefully, they can bring the energy they had during last week’s segment with Tony Schiavone to the ring!
Meanwhile, Bea Priestly is back on Dynamite and ready to take on the champion. While, they both may be heels, their personalities and wrestling styles are different enough for this clash to be satisfying. Bea does seem a bit like a sacrificial lamb, but Nyla needs to chew her way through her opponents to not only solidify her reign as champ, but to make the first big feud she has (outside of Riho) matter.
Oh look. Interesting things happening in the women’s division. FINALLY.
5) Do you think they will just marathon episodes of Being The Elite?
This is maybe a silly question, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibilities. Their product is still entirely too reliant on story lines built on BTE - a show that not everyone watches. It would makes sense to fill time if they started to more directly incorporate it into Dynamite.
I mean, WWE showed an entire rumble match. Weirder things have happened.
Tune into AEW on TNT at 8 ET tonight to see if we get any answers to these questions!
